The community is appealing to the Wassermann/Bassman family to take action. It is advisable for them to enlist a team of professionals who can aid Dovid in comprehending the finality of his marriage. This crucial step will empower him to liberate himself, his children, and Nechama from the ongoing constraints of this non-existent marriage.

Dovid Wasserman appeared in court this morning in front of Judge Prus for a mandatory 90 day review following his incarceration on July 3rd.

Dovid Wasserman has retained a new attorney who requested that Dovid's sentence be shortened. His request was denied and David was sent back to Rykers Island to serve the remaining 90 days of his sentence.

7/19/23

As of July 3rd, 2023, Dovid Wasserman was incarcerated at Rikers Island's West Facility, which is designated for medical care for inmates who request medical accommodations as per human rights laws.

Dovid Wasserman was sentenced to six mos in prison due to outstanding child support payments. A review of his case will be held by Judge Prus in 90 days.

The "purge" amount, is $49,000 and can be paid at any time. Dovid retains the right to request that a Gett be drafted in exchange for the forgiveness of the child support payments.

We hope and pray that the purge is not paid and that Dovid Wasserman uses his time in custody to come to terms with the end of his marriage.

It's important to note: resorting to the secular court systems for issues pertaining to religious marital disputes, is not only traumatic, deeply painful and frightening, but it is NOT a guaranteed path to obtaining a Gett.

May Dovid and his family be liberated swiftly.

Court will be held on Monday, July 3rd at 10:30am. After having his request for the stay order to be extended denied, Dovid Wasserman is requested to be back in Judge Prus's court next week.

It is expected that Dovid will be sentenced to jail time. If he does not show, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

Dovid Wasserman evaded the arrest warrant.

David Wasserman was located last night. The sergeant went to pick him up this afternoon. However Dovid's request for a stay order was partially granted. The appeals court ordered Dovid to pay $48,000 by June 27th.

Dovid lives at 16 Pavilion Ridge Way, Unit #1, Suffern, NY 10901 in an apartment seemingly rented by his family last month.

A WARRANT WAS ISSUED FOR DOVID WASSERMAN'S ARREST

Against the judges clear instructions, Dovid Wasserman did not show up to court today. Judge Prus issued a warrant for his arrest.

The appeal was rejected because it was filed incorrectly. Dovid's attorney submitted it (correctly) again early this afternoon but the judge chose to move forward since it had not been submitted and reviewed on time.

WHAT NOW? FIND DOVID!!

Dovid's mother sold her house. His new residence is unknown.

Rabbanim say there is no halachic issue to turn him in.

6/13/23 6:15pm

Judge Prus denied the request from Dovid Wasserman's attorney to adjourn (push off) tomorrow's court case.

Dovid's attorney failed to go to the appellate court today to get his appeal or request for a stay (pause) accepted and he plans to still do so tomorrow.

Despite this, the Judge stated that Dovid Wasserman must be in his court room tomorrow, June 14th at 11:00AM. After Dovid's attorney argues the matter in the appellate division, Judge Prus will be waiting for him to move forward with a sentence, unless his request for a stay is approved.

Please daven that the stay is denied so the case can move forward and that Dovid Wasserman either gives a Gett or faces jail time.

As time goes on, it becomes more clear than ever that Dovid is being assisted financially in multiple ways, including being provided with a retainer fee to finance this appeal.

It is incumbent upon every member of the Jewish community to take a stand and rebuke this abominable behavior.

In a dreadful move, and an effort to stop legal proceedings, Dovid Wasserman appealed the order and asked for a stay. This appeal is meant to question the judges order, and put a halt on jail time until the appeal is reviewed in a higher court.

Filing an appeal is costly and requires a separate retainer. In addition Dovid ordered expedited court transcripts which cost hundreds of dollars at minimum.

Dovid's only known source of income is a trust fund with a distribution of $4000 quarterly. It is clear that someone, likely family, is assisting financially to prevent court justice and Dovid giving a Gett or facing jail time. We ask that they stop.

Please Daven that the appeal and the request for a stay is denied.

Update 6/6/2023

Court was held today. Judge ruled that Dovid has 8 days to come up with child support owed ($96k) or he will be incarcerated for up to 6 months.

If he does not show up in court on June 14th, a warrant will be issued for his arrest and he will be picked up.

Of course, our hope as always is that Dovid will choose to end this misery for himself and his family by giving a Gett within the next 8 days. The amount owed will be forgiven.

It is incumbent upon every member of the Jewish community that Dovid is not assisted in coming up with the 96k to free himself of his obligation to free Nechama.

UPDATE 5/22/23: Judge gives final court date after four years of delays and numerous postponements.

A court appearance was scheduled for Monday 5/22/23 via Zoom (rescheduled from 5/3/23). Dovid Wasserman’s attorney requested that the court date be rescheduled.

Thankfully, the court rescheduled an IN-PERSON hearing for June 6th and has stated that this will be the last time the matter will be adjourned.

Major court case this week:
This case was opened 4 years ago at the behest of Bais Din and leading Rabbanim who recognized their limited power in bringing Dovid Wasserman to Bais Din and advised Nechama to turn to the legal system to take control.
At this time, as part of divorce proceedings, Dovid is found to be in contempt of court and is delinquent in child support payments ordered by the court.
As such, Dovid faces jail time. Nechama has made it clear that she is willing to forego child support once she receives a Gett.
The Psak of Kofen (force) received from the most esteemed Dayanim in Israel ensures that this is a Kosher way to obtain a Gett.
It is clear from statements made to the court that Dovid does not have the sum owed.
If this sum does not get paid, Nechama has a chance of finally receiving her Gett. If this sum is paid, it will be clear that people very close to Dovid have put up bail and this shameful saga will continue to haunt Nechama, her family & our community.
