Avelo Out of Eugene!
We are deeply concerned about the actions of Avelo Airlines and their involvement in deportations. Individuals with deep roots in their communities are being removed from their families and deported, often even without a fair hearing or proper legal proceedings, which is a serious violation of human and constitutional rights. As members of the Eugene community, we believe that families belong together, that people have a right to safety, and that no one should be removed from their community especially without legal counsel or a fair trial
We demand that the City of Eugene condemn Avelo Airlines' actions and make a statement affirming that Avelo's actions violate the Eugene Airport's Belonging and Mission Statement that declares the airport's conduct of integrity will always "seek to reflect ethical standards and to do the right thing regardless of the circumstances".
Why is this important?
Avelo Airlines operates flights in and out of Eugene; their deportation flights operate out of Mesa, Arizona. Their complicity in these deportations makes it imperative for us to take a stand.
Eugene is known for its values of inclusivity, fairness, and justice; allowing an airline that flies deportation flights to operate in Eugene undermines our community standards and compromises the rights and dignity of individuals.
Please sign the petition to demand that Eugene remains a community that values and protects all its residents. Our local resources or infrastructure should not support deportations executed in such an unjust way.
