BARBERSHOP/SALONS REOPEN..ONE CLIENT AT A TIME
Open Barbershops and Salons/One Client at a Time
Most barbers and hair stylists are independent contractors and they are sitting idle right now. They aren't making money and it's going to kill the business and our economy. I am petitioning the Governor, Kay Ivey to open barbershops and hair salons on a limited basis. One stylist, one client at a time. Everyone will wear masks, gloves and coverings and will sanitize in between each client.
Allow a licensed beauty professional to perform a beauty service/ privately with one client in the salon / per stylist at a time Starting as of Monday, April 27, 2020. All necessary precautions and sanitation protocols approved by the state of Alabama and the local Board of Health will be followed. Our industry needs to be recognized & deemed as an essential business so we can better serve our community.
Servicing one client at a time (while wearing a mask & gloves) poses little to no risk of spreading the virus, as compared to 20 or more people in a grocery store or 10 plus people at restaurants picking up food.

Why is this important?
Our industry is mostly staffed by independent contractors who rely solely on clients to make money. We are facing a grave financial hardship and if this continues much longer will be forced to close barbershops and salons which would cause is to lose our livlihoods.
