Kids Policy for BIC (Badge Info Cards
It must be Policy any minor that is stopped or pulled over by the police should be handed a Badge Identification card with the officers name and Badge number. This can be pre printed so they don’t have to waste time writing the info down.
Why is this important?
My 15 yr old son was stopped by the Police on his way home from school and told to put his hands on the hood of the car and asked if he could be searched. The officer was just doing his job. But did not have my son identify himself, Did not tell him why he stopped him and then told him your the wrong person jumped in the car and told him nothing. When he came home and told me what happened I asked him If he had a name or badge number he said no he didn’t give me anything. I was in disbelief and upset that an encounter like that caused me to call around and go to the police station to find out what happened when I could have just had a number spoke with the officer and know what the circumstance was behind this encounter. This saves time and emotional trauma as well.
