Cancel EdTPA 2020
COVID-19 has taken a toll on everyone's life in some way shape or form. Student teachers for the semester of 2020 are still required to do EdTPA even though they aren't in a normal school setting like previous years. These student teachers have had to change their plans and are doing double the work with their planning. This is also considering that students are choosing to do this semester virtually, allowing our student teachers not to get a real-life person to person experience. Illinois State Education Board is expecting these student teachers to finish EdTPA as if this is a normal school year.
Why is this important?
We as student teachers are not getting the real experience that we have prepared for, for the past four years of our college careers. It would be wrong to make these student teachers finish EdTPA when a lot of them won't see their student's faces at all this semester. Student teachers' degree depends on EdTPA but, it is unfair for them to complete the requirements without getting the full experience of being a student-teacher.
