Citizens Bank: Stop financing CoreCivic and The GEO Group.

Citizens Bank is bankrolling the country’s two largest prison companies that are earning record profits operating dozens of ICE detention facilities.

While most major banks have cut ties with CoreCivic and The GEO Group, Citizens Bank is deepening its financial support for these companies, which are already holding more than half of the 70,000 immigrants currently in ICE detention centers across the country.

The bank’s capital is supporting a deplorable ICE agenda that aims to fill detention centers with more than 100,000 people by next year.

Even as it publicly touts its commitment to “strengthening our communities,” Citizens Bank has played a key role in helping The GEO Group and CoreCivic access more than $2.5 billion in financing, some of it approved earlier this year. This comes as the companies face a mountain of allegations, including forced labor and wrongful deaths due to understaffing and medical neglect at their facilities.

The violent mass detention, deportation, and surveillance of immigrant communities are a stain on our country’s history, and no company should profit by inflicting human misery. The GEO Group, CoreCivic, and the banks that finance them are all complicit. We demand that Citizens Bank cut ties with CoreCivic and The GEO Group.

Why is this important?

CoreCivic and the GEO Group have seen skyrocketing profits in the last year as a result of their direct involvement in Trump’s violent deportation agenda. CoreCivic saw a nearly 70% increase in net income in 2025, while the GEO Group saw a nearly 700% increase in net income. These massive profits represent these companies' successful business models built entirely off of human suffering. Every dollar Citizens Bank lends to these companies is a direct investment in that model.

By continuing to provide financing to CoreCivic and The GEO Group, even as most major financial institutions have chosen to cut ties, Citizens Bank is sending a clear message. It is choosing profit over people, and doing so with full knowledge of what these companies do and how they do it. That choice has consequences—more than three-quarters of the nearly 40 deaths in ICE detention over the last year occurred in privately operated facilities like the ones Citizens Bank helps finance.

Sign now and demand that Citizens Bank immediately cut all ties with CoreCivic and The GEO Group and stop their complicity in ICE’s abuses!
