COVID-19 Emergency Rent and Debt Forgiveness - Condonación de renta y deuda - 사태의 렌트와 빚은 면제되어야 합니다

I finally received an e-mail from David Ryu's office. It was a boiler plate email. It reiterated that there will be no evictions during the Emergency.

The government is talking about a bailout of $750 to $1000 dollars. That doesn't even cover my rent.

What happens in May when I owe 2 months rent?

Or June when I owe 3?

I won't be evicted now because they don't want me on the streets but will they evict me then?

The rent needs to be forgiven while I CANT WORK.

What happens when the businesses who can't reopen fail and millions are looking for work?

Rent and Mortgage moratorium (no rent or mortgage collection), forgiveness (you will never owe it), deferment (interest or payments are frozen and moved forward) are absolutely necessary to our current health and well being, and our economic future.

I got about 10 seconds at the 704pm airing on KCRW. Yesterday I could have saved someone's life and not gotten a mention. We are doing great work here. I look forward to talking more with moveon tomorrow.

We have done quite a bit, but it is not time to slow down. It is not over. We are starting to become a loud voice among many loud voices. Every one who signs this makes us a little louder, a little further up front, a little more pressing to those who manage this city.

There are a few other campaigns out there, but they don't show that number. The number of people signing here is really special, and the more we get the more powerful our voice is. There are many organizations talking about a rent strike, and that may be where this leads, but lets get a whole lot of people together to tell those in charge that we need this. 24 hours ago residents of LA began organizing to demand a pause in collection of rent and loan payments due to hardships from closures and freezes relating to COVID19 social distancing policies. A petition started yesterday has already garnered nearly 90000 signatures and continues to grow at a faster pace by the minute.
