Defend Transgender Pennsylvanians
Senate Bill 213, otherwise known as the Two-Gender Protection Act, would erase transgender identities and effectively remove any legal protections for trans people. This bill has been introduced under the guise of protecting women's right as many anti-LGBTQ bills have across the country. These bills have not proven a need to protect women from transgender people and only utilize this language as a means to create a problem that doesn't exist. I ask that in the event Senate Bill 213 reaches your desk, that you veto it as all Pennsylvanians deserve representation and that includes transgender people.
Why is this important?
Anti-LGBTQ bills like Pennsylvania's Senate Bill 213, the Two-Gender Protection Act, have no place in our country. Like many bills of its type, it hides behind protecting women's rights as a means to strip transgender Americans, in this case transgender Pennsylvanians of their right to equal treatment under the law. Bills like this dehumanize and erase trans identities. We need to fight back against anti-trans hate now more than ever. This administration has emboldened transphobic sentiments across the nation. I intend to stop this bill to show that we will not accept hate.
