Demand Accountability from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

It’s been a struggle to process what happened at the CDC just days ago. The facts are coming in: one officer died, 500 rounds were fired, 200 bullets struck six CDC buildings, and hundreds of staff sheltered in place for hours. The intention was undeniable — and so was the motivation: an idea proven false but championed by the current administration, that vaccines are harmful.

DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose tragically lost his life on Friday, August 8, while courageously protecting the CDC during this targeted shooting. A public memorial for Officer Rose must condemn violence against all those who work to keep us healthy.

The CDC is one of the public health agencies Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has repeatedly vilified during his rise to power. This tragedy is proving to be a stark test of his leadership, at a time when fractures are already emerging in his “Make America Healthy Again” movement.

Inside the CDC, grief is now joined by anger. Many employees blame Kennedy for stoking public hostility toward the agency — and for his slow, inadequate response in the aftermath. One staff member described “lots of frustration with lack of HHS-level messaging to our staff and publicly.”

This violence did not happen in a vacuum. Words have consequences — and in this case, they helped create the conditions for tragedy. We demand accountability from the very top.

Please call for an investigation into this tragedy and demand the resignation, firing, or impeachment of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Thank you for your attention.

Why is this important?

This petition matters because it:

  • Cherishes the life and sacrifice of Officer David Rose, a hero who rushed toward danger.

  • Confronts the lethal reality of vaccine misinformation and its capacity to inspire violence.

  • Seeks accountability from leaders whose rhetoric may have laid the groundwork for mistrust and radicalization.

  • Elevates public safety and truth, reminding us that societal well-being depends on responsible speech and responsible leadership.
