Furthermore, the revelation that there are plans to possibly cut funds from the library and merely pay a fine from Waukesha Bridges is deeply troubling. Such a course of action would result in the loss of essential services for many community members, negatively impacting our quality of life and diminishing the value of our homes.
We firmly believe that the library is an essential institution that provides invaluable resources and opportunities for lifelong learning, literacy, and community engagement. It serves as a haven for students, researchers, families, and individuals of all ages.
Therefore, we call upon the Village Board to:
1. Ensure that decisions regarding the library board are made through transparent and inclusive processes, with meaningful community input.
2. Reject any plans that would lead to the reduction of library services, recognizing the library's vital role in enhancing the quality of life and fostering a strong sense of community.
3. Explore alternative solutions to address any financial challenges faced by the library, such as seeking community partnerships, grant opportunities, and engaging in open dialogues with library stakeholders.
