Whereas our democracy was founded on the principle of no taxation without representation and is predicated on the concept of equality, we urge you to support equal rights for the people of Washington, DC through statehood.
Why is this important?
In Washington, DC, our nation's capital, we have no voting member of Congress, and our local taxes and laws are subject to the control of Congress. This violates every principle of democracy and it is un-American.
