GOVLEARN / Government Education

The lack of civics and government education in elementary and middle schools can lead to a general lack of knowledge of civic structures and processes in the United States. In order to combat this, the United States must implement civic education as part of the curriculums of elementary and middle schools in all 50 states.

Why is this important?

Our democracy is at a turning point. Americans have an "us against them" mentality rather than attempting to cooperate and work towards a common goal. In order to allow future generations to be more tolerant of others, they must be knowledgeable about the processes of federal, state, and local governments, and understand exactly what these ideologies entail.
