🕊️ Justice and Freedom for Robert Earl Council – 30+ Years is Enough
We, the undersigned, are calling for a full review and reconsideration of the case of Robert Earl Council, a native of Enterprise, Alabama, who has served over three decades in prison for a crime that stemmed from a tragic altercation in the early 1990s.
Robert Earl has spent the majority of his life behind bars — transforming himself, mentoring others, and becoming a voice for justice and reform within Alabama’s prison system. He was one of the key figures featured in The Alabama Solution, a powerful film exposing the inhumane conditions and deep injustices within our state’s correctional facilities.
We believe Mr. Council has more than paid his debt to society and deserves a second chance at life, freedom, and redemption. The circumstances surrounding his original case reflect a moment of fear and self-defense, not premeditation or malice. After decades of demonstrated rehabilitation and service to others, continued imprisonment no longer serves justice — it only prolongs injustice.
We urge the state of Alabama to revisit and re-sentence Robert Earl Council with fairness and humanity or grant him clemency, which he well deserves. Let his next chapter be one of restoration, not continued punishment.
