Las Vegas COVID-19 Emergency Rent and Debt Forgiveness

Help aid all Las Vegas residents who have been directly affected by the recent layoffs due to the COVID-19 Emergency. We believe that an immediate moratorium on collecting rent and mortgage for the month of April and forgiveness of interest, late fees, or the owing of that month's rent in the future should be implemented. This moratorium and forgiveness should continue as long as the critical and necessary social distancing continues.

Why is this important?

The Las Vegas working class has been financially crippled by the critical and necessary measures put in place to slow the spread of COVID-19. Though the federal or state government may eventually provide relief, the immediate conservation of our limited financial resources is necessary for our own and our family's health and wellbeing. Rentors, Leasors, banks and other relevant institutions can, as a class seek their own relief; the state and federal government is much more responsive and historically more likely to act on their behalf. With containment of the virus no where in sight, we must be able to protect our limited cash flow immediately.

The announcement today to halt all evictions is a movement in the right direction to help all residents catch a break on paying rents and mortgages during this critical time.

Hey everyone. I’ve spoken to a few reps for moveon based on their recommendation I will be sending this to our local and state legislators once we hit 10,000 signatures because I would like to try and expedite getting considered for any help sooner rather than later, especially with all of the uncertainty of what’s to come over the next few weeks. Please continue to stay safe and stay home because remember that this virus infects at 2.5 to 3 times the normal seasonal flu rate with an asymptomatic spread rate that’s never been seen before.

Until there are a sufficient amount of test kits disbursed to those who need them, there is no way for the city/county/state/country to know how long this will go on until they can actually estimate a time frame for containment. Unfortunately, as a country, we are 2.5 months behind in terms of our containment efforts, which is why our Gov was so aggressive in shutting everything down, realizing that without Social Distancing, this virus will spread at astronomical rates. STAY HOME PEOPLE!

Let's keep signing people. There's a similar petition like this in Los Angeles and they've got over 150,000 signatures. The more we get the more leverage we have when submitting this to our states leaders. Stay Safe!
