No to Special Use Permit for McFarland Road

Dear Hinds County Board of Supervisors,

On behalf of our community, I am writing to express our strong opposition to the Special Use Permit requested by the Ecowomanist Institute Southeast Corp (EWise), filed on May 27, 2026.

The proposal involves over 190 acres on McFarland Road in Raymond, MS. This land is located within a residential area not currently zoned for commercial use, and we have yet to receive clarification regarding the specific intended use of the property.

As taxpayers and residents, we are concerned about the potential negative impact on our neighborhoods. While the land is reportedly intended for agricultural purposes, these activities remain undefined. We lack transparency regarding the corporation’s long-term intentions and how their operations will affect the surrounding environment, including local traffic, property values, infrastructure, and property taxes.

Due to the lack of clear information and the significant concerns of local residents, we respectfully request that you decline this application and deny the Special Use Permit.

Sincerely,

Concerned Citizens of McFarland Road and Surrounding areas

Why is this important?

Dear Neighbors,

We need your help to protect our neighborhood from a proposed commercial rezoning project near 2330 McFarland Road in Raymond, MS. We are working to safeguard our community from developments that could increase costs, impact safety, and decrease our property values.

The Ecowomanist Institute Southeast Corp (EWISE) formally submitted this request in conjunction with a permit filed on May 27, 2026. While their specific intentions for the project remain unclear, the proposal involves 196 acres of land on McFarland Road within our private residential area.

This project will disrupt our community by causing unnecessary traffic, decrease in property values, potential crime, diminished infrastructure requiring future maintenance and higher taxes.

Please take a moment to sign the petition to prevent this Special Use Permit. We must act now to preserve our neighborhood; please sign the petition and forward this email to others in the area.

Thank you for your support.

Best Regard
