MoveOn believes the public should follow the CDC's mask and vaccine guidance, including in schools, workplaces, and health care settings to protect public health and the economy.

To: Mayor of Sacramento, Darrell Steinberg

One client at a time

Allow a licensed beauty professionals to perform beauty services privately with one client in the building at a time as of May 1st. All necessary precautions and disinfection protocols approved by the CA Board of Barbering and Cosmetology will be followed.

Serving one client at a time poses a lesser (or no) risk of spreading the virus, as compared to grocery stores being filled with 10+ people inside of one grocery store and 10+ people at a restaurant placing take out orders.

A salon with one client and one Esthetician, Barber, Nail Technician or Cosmetologist is a more controlled environment as the professional is able to completely disinfect after each client. This is not being done at most essential businesses. Salons, Spas and Barber shops would need to use Barbicide on all tools and surfaces.

Barbicide has received documentation from the EPA that it is approved for efficacy against Human Coronavirus, including COVID-19.

Why is this important?

Independent Beauty Professionals rely on the income from clients. We cannot perform a service online. While the beauty industry is deemed “Non essential”, the ability to practice our craft is very ESSENTIAL to our livelihood. We are facing a grave financial hardship.

Most self employed beauty professionals have not yet received any sort of financial assistants.

These licensed professionals are trained in sanitation, disinfection and client safety for more hours than any grocery store associate. Sacramento beauty professionals are licensed by the state of California and should be able to serve customers with guidelines set in place.

Allowing us to practice safe services would also decrease the potential providers offering home services by giving them a safe controlled clean environment to see clients.

How it will be delivered

Once a substantial amount of signatures are collected I will email this to our Mayor, Darrell Steinberg and other public servants in local government.
