To: Board of Supervisors of Grayson County, Virginia

Reject Grayson County's Anti-Abortion Ordinance!

On Thursday, December 14, the Grayson County Board of Supervisors voted NO on the anti-abortion ordinance.

We demand that the Grayson County Board of Supervisors in Virginia oppose the proposed anti-abortion ordinance which is under consideration before the county on December 14, 2023.

ABORTION IS LEGAL IN VIRGINIA. But this ordinance would:
(i) Declare the county an “Unborn Sanctuary”
(ii) Criminalize the receipt of abortion medication through the mail
(iii) Penalize (fine and/or jail) anyone who assists in this care.

The proposed ordinance is a blatant violation of Virginia law. The ordinance seeks to create confusion regarding reproductive healthcare in Virginia, and it jeopardizes the well-being of county residents, including patients and families seeking critical care.

Join us in OPPOSING this unlawful ordinance!

Why is this important?

The Board of Supervisors in Grayson County, Virginia is under attack by Evangelical Christian churches seeking to ban abortion care. We can't let that happen.

The Virginia Constitution and Virginia Act for Religious Freedom firmly declare that religious extremism has no place in politics. Abortion is still legal in Virginia, and Grayson County does not have the power to countermand state law.

This local ordinance was drafted by the FEDERALIST SOCIETY and TEXAS RIGHT TO LIFE for the purpose of sowing division and confusion for people seeking abortion care in rural southwest Virginia – the last central access point in the South for reproductive healthcare.

Please join us in asking the Board of Supervisors to reject this harmful ordinance.
