PITTSBUGH CITY COUNCIL DON"T DUCK! GIVE THE ILLEGAL PAY GRAB BACK!

On December 20, 2021, The Council of the City of Pittsburgh, without notice or debate, approved an illegal salary increase by a whopping 22% - from $73,000 to $88,000!

Pursuant to the city's Home Rule Charter at Section 309 (h), the Council is limited to pay increases that are the average increase all city employees received - about 3%.

Home Rule Charter 310. POWERS OF COUNCIL:
h. to fix, by resolution, the salary of all elected city officials, but no elected city official shall receive a salary increase that exceed the average percentage of increase in salaries and wages paid to all city employees as based on the previous year's salary. Further, the salary paid to elected city officeholders shall not be diminished during their term of office.

Why is this important?

The undersigned People of Pittsburgh join together to DEMAND that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh abide by our Home Rule Charter and take immediate action to repeal this outrageous, illegal pay grab.

We stand for the rule of law and transparency in government!

How it will be delivered

On February 15, at 10:00 A.M., this petition will be presented to the Council at their Legislative meeting.
