Please help us save the live oak trees & canopies on Rockledge Dr. Rockledge FL

Please use your strength & influence to STOP Brevard county's pursuit of cutting down the live oak trees & their gorgeous canopies on Rockledge Dr. 18 mths ago we were assured by Bevard county they would not pursue cutting or trimming.
Please help Brevard County understand alternatives to preserving these gorgeous live oak trees, their canopies & the wildlife they support. Use our tax dollars and direct county's time to solve issues and problems like the flooding issues on Rockledge Dr and help us protect the Indian River Lagoon and so many other serious issues rather than focusing on decimating one of Brevard's most beautiful oak lined roads. Trees do NOT cause accidents; people do. Drunk, speeding & not paying attention. These trees have been standing for hundreds of years. Any accident was cause of the drivers. We have offered multiple options for equipment that can be used to pave or dig that are 9' & 11'. The other fact is the county & the Southbound section 2.5 miles of Rockledge Dr is a 20mph road, no trucks permitted and one of the most scenic & historic roads in all of Florida because of these oaks.
Other ways to get involved to help educate the Brevard County Representative that work for us and yet they are not adhering to the communities requests to preserve and protect these trees. :
1) Take action yourself. Use your strength to help protect & preserve these Oak Trees.
2). Sign & get others to sign our petition: to save these beautiful trees and their gorgeous canopies.
3) Please donate to help us combat this attack on the trees.
4) Write to or call our Florida State Representative Thad Altman and ask for his support to stop Brevard County from cutting the trees: Plead to have him save the Oak canopies and the oak trees. (321) 425-6179 [email protected]

Why is this important?

These live mature oaks (Mother Trees) support the Space Coast Marathon, runners, bikers, walkers, and has provided shade that lower energy costs and reduces ground temperatures by at least 10%. They have provided beauty along the Indian River Lagoon for hundreds of years without any issues to those who have visited. The leaves of an oak tree absorb airborne pollutants. One tree can absorb up to 10 lbs. of air pollution in a single year. They stabilize the soil preventing erosion. We wish for them to remain standing for future generations to enjoy and our environment to be better for them. Thank you so very much.

How it will be delivered

Moving on, Email, phone, FB, printed version to county, hand delivery.

Brevard County is moving to TAKE our land, the Live oak trees & canopies & destroy our Scenic Drive. Only a few residents were notified days prior to the 3/12/24 meeting. With an addendum, the board of commissioners granted it!. Our attorney requested proof of the maintenance. None provided to date. Conveniently the county moved up the agenda item re: to taking the land, trees & tree canopies April 9th 2024 to give themselves permission to move on destroying the Scenic Drive. We NEED you to show up wearing a heart please. This is YOUR road, autistic children, Alzheimer’s, assisted living memory care come here for calming. Marathons, Triathlons, runners, bikers, skaters, baby & dog walkers and millions of tourists. Facts: Both the Brevard FDOT Chief Engineers & our Road & Bridge Engineer have indicated 14' height clearance requirements are not required. Post this message, email Tom Goodson [email protected] & Marc Bernath [email protected].

We have been supported by so many, we'd like to thank ALL of YOU who have dedicated their time and efforts to help protect and preserve Rockledge Drive, a designated a Scenic Drive by Legislation in 1965. What a Historical Scenic Landmark with majestic live oaks and their canopies adorning the Indian River. These 200-300 year old legacy trees clean our air, reducing ground temperatures, protecting our Indian River Lagoon & it's habitat, providing shelter & food to wildlife, plants & insects. These trees protect our shoreline from erosion & the river from run offs. They protect our homes & families from Hurricane force winds. Please share this petition with as many people as you can beginning today to get more signatures. We need everyones support to save these trees.
