  • Ban the use of mounted police horses at protests
Mounted police horses were never intended to be utilized at protests. According to the Dallas Police Department's website, "The police horse is mostly used as a "patrol vehicle" that can be deployed on back streets, alleys, apartment complexes and other areas. The horse walks at a speed of 3-5 mph which allows for real observation by the officer. Due to the height of the horse and officer, both are visible to the public and the police presence is magnified." The Dallas Police Department should ban police horses at protests immediately.

  • A petition to stop Social Security cuts.
You may have heard that yesterday President Obama made an offer to Republican John Boehner to cut Social Security benefits and leave in place some of the Bush tax cuts for the top 2%. The cuts in Social Security are opposed by an overwhelming majority of SignOn.org members and would amount to "a cut of more than 5 percent and more as the years go by." For many retirees this would mean critical cuts to benefits that cover medicine, food, and other daily necessities. Please sign this petition!

  • Tell the SEC to Hold Massive Baby Formula Companies Accountable
This year, the biggest corporations are expected to spend a record $1 trillion on stock buybacks, shattering records and showering cash on shareholders — instead of investing it in product safety, innovation, or workers. Regulators let Abbott Laboratories buy back more than $5 billion of its own stock while it covered up unsanitary conditions in its factory. In such a consolidated market, these conditions have contributed to a life-threatening baby formula shortage. Corporate stock buybacks are bad for everyone but the CEOs and executives they enrich.

  • Minimum Requirements to Run for President
I was severely disappointed to find out that the only requirements to run for for President were natural citizenship & age (35 years). Obviously since we wound up with someone as unworthy as Donald Trump in the White House, these requirements are woefully lacking. That is why I came up with a ten item list of requirements to run for President to prevent unqualified future candidates and if possible Donald Trump's re-election run. REQUIREMENTS TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT & VICE PRESIDENT 1. Supply a Min 5 Years of Recent Tax Returns. 2. Provide Complete Financial History for Last Ten Years. 3. Divulge any Financial Deals with Foreign Individuals, companies or Governments. 4. Provide Complete Health History. 5. Provide Health Screening Results from Independent Health Care Clinic. 6. Screen for Drugs and Submit to monthly Random Drug Testing during campaign. 7. Divulge any Lawsuits in which you are a Plaintiff, Defendant or Witness. 8. Pass a Basic Mental Stability Test. 9. Pass a Basic Civics Test. 10. Pass security clearance requirements.

  • Make Your Tax Dollars Count
A really great idea needs WyCoKCK citizen support. Make this petition go viral, forward it to a WyCo friend. Please attend the 5:00 pm Monday, July 16 WyCoKCK Commission meeting to support a new set aside from EACH DISTRICT’S existing grind and overlay funds. The proposed set aside would allow each WyCo commissioner to use up to 20% of their annual grind and overlay budget for emergency alley repair, additional sidewalk/curb replacement incentives, OR to continue with grind and overlay. Benefits from this change include flexibility to improve infrastructure based on each district’s needs, greater citizen input on how their tax dollars are spent, and improved accountability. This proposal will be up for public discussion at this meeting and we need a show of as many supporters as possible to help it pass. We encourage neighborhood groups from across Wyandotte County to join us. 5:00 pm Monday, July 16 City Hall, 701 N. 7th St. Meeting to be held on the sixth floor Room 614 Free parking in lot at Ann and Barnett

  • Congressional Reform Act of 2011
Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election”. Congressional Reform Act of 2011 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. 2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
