  • Wayne Williams Deserves a New Trial
FBI records indicate someone other than Wayne B. Williams killed five of the children and also reveal that the Bureau was prepared to arrest a white male in April 1981 for 12-16 of the child murders. The majority of the victims' parents believe that Williams did not kill the children. They want the cases reviewed. We agree.

  • Justice For Jesse!
In May 2005 my husband Jesse Moritz was walking down the street when a Steelville Missouri police officer (Eric Schafer) approached Jesse. He stated to Jesse that he had written statements saying Jesse was selling drugs; Jesse emptied his pockets which contained 28 grams of marijuana( a misdemeanor amount), the cash from his paycheck, and postal scales. The officer then told Jesse to get in his vehicle and took Jesse to jail without reading Jesse his Miranda rights. Jesse was placed in a cell and 24 hours later a Class B felony warrant for distribution/ delivery/ possession with intent to sell a controlled substance was brought to Jesse. The money that was taken from Jesse the night he was picked up disappeared after I spoke with the Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney Sid Pearson and I informed him that I had Jesse's paycheck stub and would take it to him. He said it would not be necessary. Jesse was appointed a Missouri Public Defender who at the time of the preliminary hearing recorded officer Schafer's under oath testimony where he admitted his case was based on the statements written against Jesse, that he had not read Jesse his Miranda rights, and the marijuana and postal scales could have been used for personal use; the money was never mentioned. Jesse's public defender highly recommended Jesse take the plea offer he was offered and plead guilty. Jesse then went along with his lawyer's recommendation and plead guilty, and placed on probation where he was later violated. When Jesse went to court (March 2007)Judge William Seay sentenced him to 12 years in Missouri Department of Corrections. In 2007 Jesse filed a motion Habeas Corpus for a sentence reduction and was denied by the Missouri Attorney General in Jefferson City Missouri due to the time frame. Jesse had no prior felonies before this case, and has now served 8 years of his 12 year sentence and is currently incarcerated in a Missouri state prison.

  • Be Truthful about Education Funding
“Education funding went up four per cent last year. Four percent is a lot of money. That is a very, very large increase. What else in your life has gone up four per cent? Most people’s incomes have not gone up by 4%. At one point you cannot get water from a stone.”-Gov. Cuomo Governor, please stop being dishonest. We have all seen many costs rise beyond 4% over the last 12 months, as have our schools with gasoline prices up 6%, diesel up 9%, health care costs up 12%, and according to the Food Price Index; households face over a 5% increase in rising food costs. Our school districts shoulder these cost increases with historically declining state support. Since the 2009-2010 school year, one small, rural district (Cambridge Central School) has lost 12% in financial support provided by the state INCLUDING your reported 4% increase last year. Invest in the future of our state; our future residents, employees, business owners, and leaders. Recognize these future stakeholders are the very children sitting in our classrooms.

  • Fighting Back for Women
We need women to start fighting back against the overwhelming majority of white males who are in control of our government and are passing laws that restrict a woman's ability to exercise her right to a legal abortion and that impact her health care choices.

  • Stop zoning for Sonic Food in Lutherville, Maryland
The last thing needed at the intersection of York Road and Belfast Road is another fast food restaurant .This is a residential community and safety should be our first priority. The traffic on York Road is already a safety concern, with all the current Fast Food Chains, Smyth’s and Timonium Fair Grounds. Adding another fast food chain will cause more traffic delays and possible vehicle accidents. Currently Sonic American Fast Food is fighting to change zoning from residential to commercial. This property has been vacated for years and the community would benefit more from a family friendly dwelling.

  • The Death Penalty in Florida
I ask you to join us in a call to suspend executions in Florida. Florida is one of 33 states with the death penalty, but Florida has far more exonerations that any other state in the union. Death Row exoneration happens when the condemned prisoner is acquitted of all charges, or had all charges dismissed by the prosecution, or been granted a complete pardon based on evidence of innocence. Twenty-four people have been released from death row in Florida to return to some part of a normal life, some after almost 20 years on Death Row. Seventy-four were executed without, perhaps, a fair trial. We want to make sure no more innocent people are executed. Join us as we ask Rick Scott to put a moratorium on executions.

  • Tell the EPA: Monarchs Over Monsanto!
Ninety percent (90%) of monarch butterflies have disappeared in the last 20 years – and this could be our last chance to save them. The key component of Monsanto’s Roundup – glyphosate – is killing critical milkweed habitat across the Midwest. Monarch butterflies rely on milkweed plants to reproduce and feed the next generation of butterflies. The Environmental Protection Agency needs to protect the monarchs and ban the use of glyphosate before it’s too late.
