The state legislature should move quickly to require all Credit Unions operating in the State of New Jersey to contribute to the state unemployment insurance fund.

The health insurance industry is thwarting their agreement to base what they will reimburse for out-of-network coverage on actual 'usual and customary' fees charged by health providers. Health insurance companies reached a settlement in 2009 with NYS requiring them to set up a data base to determine how much to reimburse for those policies that provided for out-of-network service. The insurance industry spent $90 million to create this data base. But since they were not obligated to use it, they are now basing their reimbursement amounts on Medicare rates, which are much lower. “They’re not getting what they think they’re paying for,” said Benjamin M. Lawsky, the superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, whose investigators recently found that under the switch, 4.7 million New York State residents — 76 percent of those with out-of-network coverage — are facing reimbursement reductions of 50 percent or more. Mr. Lawsky, who worked for Mr. Cuomo when he was attorney general, is seeking legislation in New York State to require that minimum reimbursements be linked to the new database, known as Fair Health. I am a union electrician who is still facing heavy unemployment rates. I live in NYC and 405 which is 350 after taking out federal tax is not an exceptable amount to even pay for the roof over your head. I am pushing for a higher unemployment rate of cash for the most expensive city too live in.

The article goes on to explain: "The level of reimbursement varies by plan, pegged to benchmarks unknown or misunderstood by many consumers. The traditional benchmark was 80 percent of the U.C.R., while newer ones mostly range from 140 percent to 250 percent of Medicare rates. That sounds like more, but typically amounts to less, and is drastically below charges in large, emergency out-of-network bills." What does this mean for you? Patients will go bankrupt or heavily in debt for out-of-network care that is often times crucial, urgent and life saving. We cannot standby and let this change happen. The current state of the SREC market is hurting New Jersey residents who bought into the vision of a cleaner and more sustainable environment by investing their dollars in New Jersey's Green future and killing jobs in one of the few bright sectors in the New Jersey's economy. While we all knew the SREC market was based on supply and demand, we expected an orderly and well managed market. A combination of low rates of return in the overall economy combined with New Jersey's excellent solar program and a lack of transparentcy has lead to New Jersey's Renewable Portfolio goals being exceeded which is a good thing but the number of SRECs required needs to be increased to keep up with the installed capacity so the market returns a reasonable rate of return. We call on the Legislature to advance the Renewable Portfolio Standard's number of SRECs required by at least 2 years to absorb the excess supply and to put in place controls so the market does not become over-supplied in the future.

People pay bottle can/ deposit when they buy drinks, which is to be repaid to them when they return the containers to the stores, and this system is meant help people recycle materials. But in reality, most stores do not accept containers unless those are sold in there. I think that is one of the reasons why people are reluctant to recycle containers, because people buy from multiple stores. If this petition passed, people can bring the empty containers to any major supermarkets. This will give people more drive to recycle.

Dear Governor Christie, members of the New Jersey Senate and New Jersey House, The United States Supreme Court today ruled that strip-searches are legal in any all and cases of arrest, even for the most minor offenses. Given that we can no longer rely on the Supreme Court to protect our most basic civil rights (and especially since the case in question originated in New Jersey), we must look to the State of New Jersey for such protection. Six states already ban such searches. We, the undersigned, urge you to introduce a law banning such searches in the State of New Jersey, mandating that police MUST have reasonable grounds for suspecting an arrested person might be hiding contraband or dangerous items before conduction such procedures.
