In a time when students are struggling more than ever, we need members of both parties to reject the proposed $150 billion in cuts to funding for the Pell Grant, the subsidized loan program, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and income-based repayment programs.

This bill amends part A (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) (TANF) of title IV of the Social Security Act to require the Administration for Children & Families (ACF) to make grants to states for demonstration projects that provide wage subsidies to enable low-income individuals to enter and retain employment. States may use grant funds to subsidize an individual's wages for up to 12 months. The subsidy may be up to 50% of an individual's wages. Individuals are eligible for subsidized wages if they: (1) are recipients of TANF or similar state assistance or a noncustodial parent of a child receiving such assistance, (2) are unemployed when the subsidy begins, and (3) have an income below 200% of the poverty line.

Last week, Donald Trump recklessly announced that he will pull the United States out of the Paris Climate Agreement, which has been signed by 195 countries in an effort to stop catastrophic climate change, which is accelerated by carbon pollution. In response, governors from California, New York, and Washington launched a coalition committed to the carbon reduction efforts called for under the Paris Agreement, which has now been joined by a total of 12 states and Puerto Rico. But NH's governor, Chris Sununu, has not yet committed to joining. Will you urge Gov. Sununu to enlist New Hampshire in this new coalition and do everything possible to fight climate change?

Unfortunately, absent from this coalition is the Great State of Texas! Now as a Texan, that hurts my Texas pride! Texans should be standing up front leading this effort! Gov. Abbott: Enlist Texas in this new coalition and do everything possible to fight climate change.

It is true that soldiering is a business of death. But the court of equity must rise up to help the weak wherever the law becomes an ass. Maximum penalty for mutiny in Nigeria is death. Can we take a protest against a senior military officer as mutiny against Nigeria? In a country where Aesop’s quote: “We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office” is the norm, Nigerians and the world must call into question the recent death sentence handed down on the 12 rank and file soldiers who protested against their Commander in the heart of the Boko haram insurgency in Borno State. If these soldiers have no good reason for their action, why was the said GOC retired recently?

Subsidized early care and education programs in California have been reduced by over $1 billion since 2008, eliminating spaces for almost 110,000 low-income children. We urge you to restore, rebuild, and reinvest in early care and education programs! Please implement a 1.565% COLA equal to K-12 for early learning and child care programs. Please eliminate the new fees for part-day state preschool, and restore the $125 million cut that happened in coordination with the implementation of the fees. This is a failed experiment that is simply not working, and is hurting the quality of this program for children. Please oppose the proposal to realign CalWORKs child care to the Department of Social Services.

Mario was wrongly convicted in 2008 from a false allegation alone. There was not evidence or DNA to convict but the courts deemed it necessary to sentence him to 12 years. He was coerced into making a guilty plea because he was told he would go home. We the people demand this case be brought back before a judge and to let Mario prove his innocence. The tragedy of it all is a young man's life has been stolen because a vindictive person had nothing better to do than to destroy, but the bigger tragedy is that our court system allow's this kind of behavior. It is time to set the innocent free, and to start holding the accusers accountable for their destruction
