As Brietbart News has emerged from the sewer of hatred to become the home of White Nationalism, many national companies have taken steps to pull their advertising dollars. Not so with Nissan. Even worse, Nissan has chosen to intimidate Mississippi workers (the majority of whom are Black) against voting for a union, even though the company is union everywhere else in the world. Nissan needs to decide what side of history they will stand on. And as a first step, stop advertising with Breitbart.

Reject any politics that targets people because of race or religion. Reject any effort to block Syrian and Iraqi refugees from being admitted to the United States.

Dear Michelle Obama, On this Mothers Day, I am writing to urge you to tell your husband to take immediate steps to end indefinite detention without charge and close the detention facility at Guantánamo Bay. For women all over the world, Mother’s Day is a day of joy. But for women like Om Abdurahman, it is a day of grief because her son Abdurahman is a prisoner at Guantánamo prison, which your husband has the power to close, and he has been cleared for release for over 6 years. Twelve years ago Abdurahman left Yemen to teach in Pakistan and never returned, and Om Abdurahman found out he was being held at Guantanamo through a newspaper. Now he is on a hunger strike, and his mother doesn't even know if he’ll still be alive the next time she allowed to speak with him by phone, which is once every two months. Can you imagine what this is like for a mother? The United State’s government has stolen her son’s youth, and stolen her family’s peace and happiness. Abdurahman’s wife was pregnant when he was taken. He has never met his daughter, who is now 12 years old. Mrs. Obama, please tell your husband to close Guantánamo prison now by taking these concrete steps: -Appoint a senior point person so that the administration's Guantánamo closure policy is directed by the White House and not by Pentagon bureaucrats. He can also order the secretary of defense to start certifying for transfer detainees who have been cleared, which is more than half the Guantánamo population. -Demonstrate immediate, tangible progress toward the closure of Guantanamo or the men who are on hunger strike will die, and he will be ultimately responsible for their deaths. Abdurahman deserves justice. Om Abdurahman deserves justice for her son. All of the prisoners held in Guantánamo deserve justice. Please act now. Sincerely,

The citizens of Illinois are being blocked from the polls because of unnecessary voter registration requirements. In Illinois, you have to register to vote 27 days before an election--an arbitrary deadline that is one of the earliest in the United States. We, the undersigned, call upon legislators to join us in the fight to allow Same Day Registration. Last year Illinois passed Online Voter Registration and this year we have a chance to make Illinois a leader in voting rights again.

Washington Township NJ wants to kick out American Legion Post 521 from their home at Grenloch Community Center. This will leave the legion members with no place to meet. How can a legion survive without a place the members can call home? The current reasoning behind this move by the township is that they need the money of sale of the American Legion post's building. That is unacceptable. If the township needs money, they need to do it without hurting our veterans. Any small amount of money they save in the short term is nothing compared to what these men and women have sacrificed for our country and for Washington Township. These people are heroes, and the town is treating them like they don't even matter. Tell Washington Township council and your mayor that you support veterans! Save the American Legion Post 521 meeting home!

Conservatives all over the country are moving to restrict the people's right to vote because of the Supreme Court decision last summer to gut the Voting Rights Act. Mr. McClintock, as a leader in the Republican Party, you can not let these anti-patriots continue to disgrace your party and our nation. The best, and probably only way for you to stop them is to support HR.3899, the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014. Because the early version of this VRA Act is weak, we hereby request that you vote FOR amendments which strengthen voter protections and AGAINST amendments that weaken voter protections. Lastly, when it does come to the floor for a final vote, we hereby request that you VOTE TO PASS HR3899. Like a true patriot.
