  • Ban Assault Weapons Now
Congress must reinstate the assault weapons ban immediately. It worked in the past and can work again. We need commonsense, impactful action to tackle gun violence. Most Americans agree: Civilians do not need military-grade weaponry.

  • Don’t Ban TikTok!
There are plenty of issues that are front of mind for Americans across the country today: our bodily autonomy is under attack, from attacks on abortion care to attacks on IVF to attacks on gender-affirming care. LGBTQ+ youth is under attack. Systemic racism is harming Black, Indigenous, and brown people. There are millions of Americans who either have no healthcare or are underinsured. Americans owe over a trillion dollars in student debt. Dark money in politics is corrupting elected officials. Billionaires are avoiding paying their fair share in taxes. Rent prices are soaring and higher than ever while the federal minimum wage hasn’t gone up from $7.25 in 15 years. We are still in a pandemic. Communities still don’t have access to clean water. Climate change due to fossil fuels is destroying our communities. But one of the latest laws that the House of Representatives passed? An unconstitutional bill to ban TikTok, violating and limiting the free speech of the over 150 million Americans who use the app. They need to focus on the issues that are actually negatively affecting our communities. We must come together to stop this. Will you sign the petition to say NO to a TikTok ban NOW?

  • No Regional War in the Middle East
Petition summary: We need to support the nuclear deal with Iran. The alternative is a regional war which could prove disastrous for our allies. Sanctions have only escalated Iran’s nuclear program. To provide security the deal must lead to generalized, permanent arms control. As General of the Army Omar Bradley said, “We had better soon get ourselves under control and begin making the world safe for living.” —————————————————— The petition in full: The United States, as part of the P5+1 (USA and our allies the UK, France, plus Germany and the EU; also Russia and China), has taken a major step toward preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. We need to support the deal with Iran. The alternative is war. Not just an attack but a boots-on-the-ground war. Meir Dagan, head of the Mossad (Israel’s CIA), from 2002 to 2011, warned that an attack on Iran “would mean regional war, and in that case you would have given Iran the best possible reason to continue the nuclear program.” He further warned that, “The regional challenge that Israel would face would be impossible.” Meir Dagan and other retired Israeli intelligence and military have warned against Netanyahu and other “hotheads.” The hotheads’ alarmist views require analysis and challenge.  They should not be allowed to frame the debate. Robert Gates, head of the CIA under George H.W. Bush, defense secretary under George W. Bush and Barack Obama, has said bombing Iran could prove a “catastrophe,” and that Iran’s “capacity to wage a series of terror attacks across the Middle East aimed at us and our friends, and dramatically worsen the situation in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and elsewhere is hard to overestimate.” A military strike would delay a bomb by 3-5 years while the deal could delay it 10-20 years or more. Would more sanctions against Iran work? Look at the evidence: After imposition of sanctions in 2006 Iran went from a few hundred centrifuges to 22,000 centrifuges. From enriching below 5 percent to enriching to 20 percent. From one model of centrifuge to eight models of centrifuges, including highly developed centrifuges. All while sanctions were in place. [Note: The deal requires Iran to get rid of 98% of it’s low-enriched uranium stockpile. It limits Iran to 3.7% enrichment. Bomb grade is at least 90%] There is no chance that our allies would continue sanctions as long as Iran continues to abide by the agreement. Congress needs to work with the administration for strong implementation of the accord and action against Iran’s bad actions in the region and toward its own people (Iran’s dissidents overwhelmingly support the deal).  As Iran supports Hezbollah and Hamas, we need to support Israel.    We can co-operate with Iran on its good actions such as its fight against ISIL. Is this deal enough? Certainly not. It should serve as the start of a nuclear weapons free zone in the Middle East. Voices in Saudi Arabia once advocated a weapons-of-mass-destruction free zone in the Middle East, even if Israel did not participate. We were wrong in not pursuing it then but we don’t have to be wrong now. We need to take the lead. Would a weapons-of-mass-destruction free zone in the Middle East be enough? No, as conventional weapons today can be extraordinarily destructive. Nor is it enough for one region only to demilitarize. “Disarmament, with mutual honor and confidence, is a continuing imperative,” said President Eisenhower in his Farewell Address to the Nation. General Omar Bradley said "Our plight is critical, and with each effort we have made to relieve it by further scientific advance, we have succeeded only in aggravating our peril…If we are going to save ourselves from the instruments of our own intellect, we had better soon get ourselves under control and begin making the world safe for living."

  • Urgent Request for Enhanced Healthcare on Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
Subject: Urgent Request for Enhanced Healthcare Services on Virgin Gorda We, the undersigned, residents and stakeholders of Virgin Gorda, respectfully bring to your attention the critical and ongoing issue regarding the lack of proper healthcare services on our island. As a community, we continue to experience severe challenges due to limited access to essential healthcare facilities and services. The incident on the evening of August 30, 2024 has magnified the gross neglect and inattention to health care and services on Virgin Gorda.  Despite repeated concerns raised over the years, Virgin Gorda remains underserved, as clinics and healthcare centres operate under inadequate conditions that compromise the wellbeing of its residents and guests. These issues include: - Clinics that are either closed for extended periods or operate with drastically reduced hours. - A shortage of qualified medical staff available to provide routine and emergency services, or the inability for them to be scheduled for shifts that cover the operating hours of the clinics. - The absence or malfunction of essential medical equipment, hindering the provision of adequate care. - A lack of specialized healthcare services that forces residents to travel to other islands, often at great inconvenience and expense. These deficiencies in healthcare services pose a significant risk to the health and lives of the residents and guests of Virgin Gorda. The situation is particularly alarming for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic conditions who rely heavily on accessible and reliable medical care. Healthcare is a Human Right Healthcare is a fundamental human right, as recognized by the United Nations (UN) in Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states:  *"Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including... medical care and necessary social services."* This right should not be denied to the people of Virgin Gorda. It is the responsibility of the Government, the Health Services Authority (HSA), and other relevant authorities to ensure that all citizens have access to quality healthcare, regardless of their geographic location. Our Requests We, therefore, call upon the Government of the British Virgin Islands, the Health Services Authority, and His Excellency the Governor to urgently address the following: 1. Extend clinic operating hours to ensure 24/7 access to healthcare services for emergency and urgent care needs.  Ensure 24 hr availability of a doctor and a nurse on each shift.  2. Equip and staff healthcare facilities with sufficient, well-trained medical and administrative personnel, including general and emergency practitioners, nurses, and emergency responders. 3. Ensure that medical and operational  equipment is fully functional and ensure that the clinics are stocked with sufficient supplies, and that the clinics are equipped with modern, up-to-date technology to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatment. 4. Increase the availability of specialized medical services to reduce the need for off-island travel for basic medical care and consultations. 5. Develop a long-term plan to expand healthcare infrastructure on Virgin Gorda to meet the needs of a growing population. 1.  Complete the Clinic in Spanish Town by 2025. 2. Ensure minimal 9am-5pm operating hours at North Sound Clinic with a facility staffed at minimal with a nurse and then a doctor 3 days a week by December 15, 2024. 3. Ensure that both clinics have adequate medical supplies as well as working EKG machines and defibrillators. 4. Further explore possibilities of an ambulance boat that is equipped with basic life saving equipment and qualified personnel to staff it. 5. Ensure swimming instruction for doctors and nurses.  6. Ensure that a fully functional dialysis machine, along with all necessary equipment and a trained technician, is available at the Nurse Iris O'Neal Medical Clinic. By addressing these issues, you will not only improve the health and well-being of Virgin Gorda’s residents and guests but also ensure that healthcare on our island is in line with international standards. Recognize as well that Virgin Gorda is a premier tourist destination and urgent care must be available.  We urge you to treat this matter with the utmost urgency, and we look forward to your prompt action in resolving the healthcare crisis that continues to affect our community.

  • Failures in Fingerprinting and DNA Collection Leave Offenders Untraceable: Phoenix VA Police
🧬 Subtitle: By refusing to fingerprint arrestees or collect DNA, Phoenix VA Police are allowing suspects tied to sex crimes, unsolved murders, and other serious federal offenses to avoid being entered into national justice systems—effectively burying cases that could be solved and endangering lives through willful inaction. 📌 OAWP COMPLAINT UNCOVERS SERIOUS BREAKDOWN A complaint filed with the Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection (OAWP) in January 2024—Case 24-Phoenix-23807—revealed shocking procedural failures at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Police Department. Officers are not fingerprinting arrestees, not collecting DNA, not filing proper charges, and not coordinating with the DOJ or U.S. Marshals. These gaps allow violent offenders, including sex crime suspects, to avoid justice and escape national law enforcement databases. “"There’s no VA policy requiring fingerprinting," investigators concluded.” But the law doesn’t require policy—it demands compliance. 📋 SYSTEMIC NEGLECT, NOT ISOLATED INCIDENTS This report documents a pattern—not a mistake. Phoenix VA: • Possesses a LiveScan fingerprint machine (since 2020) • Has legal obligations under DOJ regulations • Routinely downgrades felony-level crimes to citations • Fails to follow Rule 4 and Rule 5 of federal criminal procedure • Releases suspects without fingerprints, DNA, or federal complaints Instead of processing offenders, they simply hand them a citation—or let them walk. 🧬 DNA LAWS IGNORED, FEDERAL PROTOCOLS BROKEN Under the DNA Fingerprint Act of 2005 (34 U.S.C. § 40702) and 28 CFR Part 28, the VA must collect DNA from anyone arrested, facing charges, or convicted. But without fingerprinting, those DNA samples can’t be processed or tracked by FBI systems like CODIS. “DOJ regulations even state: "DNA collection may be limited to individuals from whom an agency collects fingerprints."” No fingerprints = no match = Rapists and Murder suspects living thier best lives!. 📎 NO NCIC ENTRY, NO CODIS HIT, NO RECORD Despite repeated warnings, Phoenix VA continues to: • Ignore DOJ expectations • Refuse to present offenders to magistrates • Fail to submit AO 91 criminal complaints • Operate outside federal coordination with USMS and USAO This is not just poor practice. It’s a federal procedural void. ⚖️ OFFICERS SILENCED, REFORM BLOCKED Attempts to correct this problem began in 2020. But senior law enforcement officials at Office of Security and Law Enforcement (OSLE) and Office of Senior Security Officer (OSSO) rejected those efforts. Officers were told to stop pushing reform. Multiple insiders reported feeling "handcuffed by leadership." They’ve seen colleagues and nurses assaulted—yet were directed to issue a citation and send the suspect home. No prints. No charges. No protections. 💥 COULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN? REMEMBER SUTHERLAND SPRINGS In 2017, the Air Force failed to report a violent offender’s fingerprints. That man killed 26 people in Texas. The DoD IG said the tragedy was entirely preventable. Phoenix VA has been warned. They’ve ignored the same red flags. 📄 WE DEMAND IMMEDIATE ACTION • 🔹 DOJ and FBI-compliant fingerprinting at all VA police units • 🔹 Federal audit of arrest procedures at Phoenix VA • 🔹 Mandatory retraining on AO 91 and Rule 5 • 🔹 Congressional and OIG investigation into failures 🛑 THIS IS WILLFUL NEGLIGENCE Phoenix VA has: • The fingerprint machines • The DOJ guidance • The ability to coordinate with federal prosecutors They choose not to. And while they do nothing, offenders slip through the cracks—and sex crimes, rapes, and murders remain unsolved. ✍️ Sign this petition. Demand oversight. Demand justice. Before it’s too late. • Tell the EPA: Ban Monsanto's monarch-killing pesticide!
Dear EPA Office of Pesticide Program Director Rick Keigwin, I urge the EPA to revoke glyphosate’s registration and pull it from use. Glyphosate is widely used -- nearly 300 million pounds are used in the U.S. every year, including on common crops like soy and wheat. These chemicals are likely ending up on our plates. Independent studies have found concentrations of glyphosate in human urine and breast milk. New research has found that exposure to glyphosate is linked to shorter pregnancies. Studies even indicate glyphosate has the potential to be even more harmful in combination with other chemicals. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified glyphosate as a Group 2A “probable” carcinogen. In addition, California regulators have included the chemical on the Proposition 65 list of probable carcinogens. Apart from significant risks to human health, the U.S. Geological Survey routinely finds glyphosate in U.S. waterways. Ecological data also reports that glyphosate and glyphosate-formulated products are toxic to aquatic organisms and are extremely lethal to amphibians. Multiple studies show that glyphosate — widely used along the migration route for monarch butterflies — is virtually wiping out milkweed, the only food young monarchs eat. A report found monarch butterflies would need a 5-fold increase to recover from risk of quasi-extinction. Their numbers continue to decline every year and the U.S. Geological Survey estimates that because of continuous low populations there is as much as a 57% risk that the eastern monarch migration could collapse within the next 20 years. Monsanto’s glyphosate is harming our environment and the very ecosystems we depend on for sustainable food and farming systems — and it’s likely also harming our health. The studies are clear — we need action now. I urge the EPA to protect our health and the environment by revoking glyphosate’s license and pulling it from use. Sincerely,

  • Stop the use of higher one cards to disperse school refunds
If the best interest of the student is your primary concern, then you will stop the use of higher one card to disperse financial aid refunds. Higher one was made primarily to make one by two Yale graduates. The service is poor, there are no actual banks to go to if we should need assistance, there are very few atms. if a student chooses to use the card there are lots of fees associated with it as well as the account fees. The higher one card makers set it up so that destitute students really have no other option other than signing up for an account with them. Of course, with signup you have access to your money immediately, but if the student doesn't choose to set up and account they have to wait 5-7 days. yes, they give you the option of sending the money to a "third party" bank, but in order to do this you have to PRINT out a form and mail it in. When everything is electronic why is that the only method they offer....think....when Wake Tech handled my Financial aid refunds I received my money promptly the next day usually after it was dispersed...why should we as students have to wait an additional week? Wake Tech may be saving money by using higher one but if they really had the best interest of the students at heart they would stop this immediately...higher-one charges fees for money that students are getting through scholarships, loans, and grants...that makes absolutely no sense...and then higher one officials have the audacity to say if a person uses the card properly these fees can be avoided...HOW? if the goal is to make money...they charge fees if you simply use your card as credit instead of debit...and so on and so forth. I may have forgotten a few important points but it all comes down to money...wake tech might be saving money by highering out someone to help with financial aid issues but it has a negative impact on students overall.

  • End Fluoridation now!
“It is apparent that fluorides have the ability to interfere with the functions of the brain.” — the National Research Council (2006) Water fluoridation has been banned in many countries including: China, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Japan. Nearly all of Europe’s water supply is fluoride-free. And yet, fluoride is omnipresent in the American food supply. It’s in our water, in juice, soda, wine and coffee, in soups and processed food, and in baby formula. The majority of American cities have fluoridated water. Many people think they can avoid fluoride by just using fluoride-free toothpaste. However, fluoride isn’t just in toothpaste. Almost all of the beverages sold in stores and restaurants are made with tap water. People who drink those beverages ingest a fair amount of added fluoride. We consume fluoride from the following sources: Toothpaste with fluoride Baby formula Foods cooked in fluoride Canned soup, or soup in restaurants Mechanically deboned chicken (i.e. chicken nuggets) Food cooked in Teflon cookware Soda pop and soft drinks Fruit juice (unless it is fresh-squeezed at home) Beer and wine (unless they are imported from Europe or other areas that don’t fluoridate the water) Coffee and tea (if made with fluoridated water) Packaged and processed foods Anesthetics Fluoridated salt Cigarettes Fluoride also affects the pineal gland. Studies by Jennifer Luke (2001) show that fluoride accumulates in the human pineal gland to very high levels. In her Ph.D. thesis, Luke has also shown in animal studies that fluoride reduces melatonin production and leads to an earlier onset of puberty (Luke 1997). Consistent with Luke’s findings, one of the earliest fluoridation trials in the U.S. (Schlesinger 1956) reported that on average young girls in the fluoridated community reached menstruation 5 months earlier than girls in the non-fluoridated community. Please sign this and let Congress you want an end to fluoridation now!
