  • Cut Defense and Fed Gov pensions now
This is not about compromise. Bogus/Fraud Fiscal Cliff. The solution to the fiscal cliff is very simple defense and pensions make up 50% of the budget.  There should be no government pensions.  Phase out employee, non-elected the same way corporations and unions and city and state governments are reducing or eliminating them.  Private sector only has 401Ks sometimes no matching...you are lucky if you get 5 or 10% matching.  All elected gov officials city, state, and federal eliminate free health care and free pensions immediately and retroactively, no free travel expenses and no free housing expenses, no exceptions. Elected officials must sacrifice if they want to serve the people.  No double dipping on existing pensions....pick the best one that you are entitled.  The others are public money and wasteful spending that cheats ordinary Americans. www. usfederalbudget.us/federal_budget_detail_fy13 Matching 401Ks should be the most any governmental body should offer for retirement.  Do not cut social security or medicare.  They are mandatory deductions from pay that are allocated reserves that should not have been touched, mismanaged by deficit spending republicans.  Lifeline for the middle and low income Americans. stop making new rules that makes the tax code more complicated.  10% taxes for $300K and below, 40% for $300K and above, no deductions, no AMT, nada, you donate if you can afford it, look Zukerberg donated $100 mil to NJ schools and another $500 million to other causes, more net spending income for all Americans....the rich won't be affected....they have the means to earn more....the poor are stuck, eliminating credits and other exceptions is more of the same.  set a flat net income tax rate for small business and corporations....25% to 35%, no loopholes, downsize the IRS, cut funding to expenses funded by the general fund.  cut foreign aid, end wars, plan for natural disasters, cut all grants, expenses need to be  itemized and put up to a popular vote...50% of the federal budget is plenty of space to find cuts that won't hurt ordinary Americans.  The slew of worthless propositions, this is the real use for propositions, don't let those bribed elected politicians make spending decisions.  America can make them better.  Example, Prop 30 for Education and other critical expenses voted in by CA.

  • California Republicans: Seriously?
It's outrageous! Republican state senators just blocked the kind of transparency and disclosure wanted by 84% of voters. They actually say they'll vote for it… IF it doesn’t start until "next year". Seriously? How can they let Dark Money from billionaires try to buy another election? ALL Senators must do the right thing and vote "Yes" when SB 27 comes up again.

  • STOP AT&T’s Fight To Put Cell Towers In Residential Hollywood
AT&T is continuing its fight to put 12 cell towers, 24 radio heaters and 3 giant 10’ x 10’ x 10’ equipment cabinets on the roof of a modest apartment building in residential Hollywood. The building is low income housing; loaded with families and kids, and it’s within 100-feet of our building. Please sign this petition and join us in our fight to stop this vile plan in its tracks! AT&T cannot put these towers up without a "conditional use permit" because all this equipment will make the building taller, exceeding current zoning restrictions. They tried to get this permit on August 19th at a hearing at the LA Dept. of City Planning, and THEY WERE DENIED!! Twenty-two neighbors attended and testified. We fought them hard and we won! This is their 2nd try. And, that’s what this 2nd hearing is about: getting the permit to change the height of buildings in Hollywood, so they can put the towers and equipment up. (So, if you live in Hollywood, LISTEN UP!) AT&T’s appeal is on Nov. 25th at the Central Area Planning Commission, after 4:30p at LA CITY HALL, 10th fl., 200 North Spring St., LA, CA. 90012 (Please attend!) AT&T is appealing a decision they lost once, already! This is their last chance and we cannot allow them to win! If they do, it would open the door for, not only other taller buildings - but any other phone and/or technology company that wants to follow suit. Having these towers would crush property values for everyone within a 500’ radius, not to mention the effects EMF’s (electro magnetic frequencies) have on humans, pets and wildlife. But, don’t take our word for it. This is what the experts are saying: Property Values: The National Institute for Science, Law and Public Policy… “Neighborhood Cell Towers & Antennas—Do They Impact a Property’s Desirability?” Their survey initiated June 2, 2014, polled 1,000 respondents in the U.S. as of June 28, 2014. The overwhelming majority of respondents 94% reported that cell towers and antennas in a neighborhood or on a building would impact interest in a property and the price they would be willing to pay for it. 79% said under no circumstances would they ever purchase or rent a property within a few blocks of a cell tower or antenna. Read more: http://electromagnetichealth.org/electromagnetic-health-blog/survey-property-desirability/ The Effects of EMF’s THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ENVIRONMENTAL MEDICINE: The (EMF) electromagnetic fields from this technology have biological effects, including genetic effects, cancer, cellular/molecular effects, electrophysiological effects, behavior, nervous system, blood brain barrier, calcium, cardiovascular, warm sensations, hormones, immunology, metabolic rate effects, reproduction/growth, subjective symptoms and stress.(Ref. source: Dr. Henry Loci, research professor, department of bioengineering, University of Washington.) Other findings show similar effects, “Including interference with production of melatonin that affects sleep and helps to protect against cancer, depression, memory loss, visual disruptions, skin problems, dizziness, movement difficulties and nausea. Children are shown to be much more vulnerable to cell phone radiation.” A study by O. P. Gandi et al, University of Utah. According to Dr. Samuel Millham M.D., MPH - Section Head, Chronic Disease Epidemiology Section, Washington State Dept. of Health, 1988-1992 , (He is t he scientist who first alerted the world about the frightening link between occupational exposure to electromagnetic fields, electromagnetic (EMF) pollution, and human disease.) “Guidelines vary in other countries, the U.K. having the worst and Austria, having the best. The guidelines for the U.S. are 4-fold worse than the ones in Austria”. Read more: http://aaemonline.org/emf_rf_position.html EMF’s On Animals: Dept. of Interior Attacks FCC regarding Adverse Impact of Cell Tower Radiation on Wildlife: The Department of Interior charges that the FCC standards for cell phone radiation are outmoded and no longer applicable as they do not adequately protect wildlife. The Department criticized the Federal government's proposed procedures for placement and operation of communication towers, and called for "independent, third-party peer-reviewed studies" in the U.S. to examine the effects of cell tower radiation on "migratory birds and other trust species." Read more: http://www.saferemr.com/2014/03/dept-of-interior-attacks-fcc-regarding.html Interesting Factoid: The 1996 Federal Telcom Act does not allow cities from: 1) completely prohibiting cell towers; 2) discriminating among cell providers and 3) denying cell towers on the basis of “health” or concerns about RF emissions that are within FCC (considered) standards.

  • Urgent Action Required to Prevent Flooding on Lynwood Drive
In 2021, I bought and moved into my first home on Lynwood Drive in Washington, Indiana. I did not know of any drainage issues or any flooding issues in the area as I am not from Washington or southern Indiana. In 2022 we experienced our first flood in the home. Water trickled down into our vents and soaked the entire floor in a matter of minutes. My husband and our friend dragged the sandbags I had seen in the garage through the house and out the windows into the front of the house. For three days after, water seeped through the laminate flooring, gushing under every step. I ran dehumidifiers, fans, and the AC for days. I hoped the water was out and soon enough, it went away. I made my fair share of complaints to neighbors and they informed me that the city was looking into the issue. A few months later, I saw city workers on our road and I thought, “Yay! They’re doing something!” Turns out nothing was done to eliminate the problem because yesterday 5/5/24 my house flooded again. I now have a 4 month old baby. His room was flooded. New toys, clothes, diapers all ruined. Not only that, my living room, garage, and kitchen were all flooded just as bad if not worse. If you are familiar with the area, you know that Lynwood Dr sits at the bottom of a very long hill. Well our house sits smack dab at the bottom of the hill right before the road gradually inclines. Water from every direction pools in front of my house. During flash floods, the street is filled to the brim, spilling over into my yard. I am writing this petition to the City of Washington in an effort to have flood prevention measures taken. I am not an expert in this area but I know that there needs to be a storm basin put in place. I know that there needs to be storm drains added to our street. I am a taxpayer. My neighbors are taxpayers. We are in need of help. I am not the only one who experiences this issue. I am one of many. Please sign this petition to have the City of Washington help myself and my neighborhood.
