We are calling on the City of New York to declare a HEALTH crisis, and impose an immediate moratorium on all large-scale housing construction projects in Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill and the adjacent waterfront area until a full-service hospital is included in the plans. The Long Island College Hospital campus buildings are all still standing and can be re-utilized, or we can seek a developer who will submit proposals for a new state of the art facility, as part of an overall development plan. But we will not allow our area to be over-developed without adequate medical facilities. We appreciated Mayor Deblasio's willingness to address this issue during his campaign.
