  • For Our Health's Sake: Ban Fracking in Pennsylvania
We demand that the Pennsylvania State Legislature put the health of it's citizens above the profits and campaign donations of the fracking industry, and have the courage and integrity to ban fracking, like our neighbors in New York did.

  • Disqualified Because Girl on Team!
The NTBA's new rule that bans girls from playing in your national tournament is unfair and sexist. Retract it now, and apologize to Kymora Johnson and her team, the Charlottesville Cavaliers, for disqualifying them from the tournament.

  • Immediate Moratorium On All Large-Scale Housing Construction in Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill Unti...
We are calling on the City of New York to declare a HEALTH crisis, and impose an immediate moratorium on all large-scale housing construction projects in Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill and the adjacent waterfront area until a full-service hospital is included in the plans. It is simply irresponsible and unsustainable to add tens of thousands of new residents to the area without it. It would be a self-inflicted health crisis. The Long Island College Hospital campus buildings are all still standing and can be re-utilized, or we can seek a developer who will submit proposals for a new state of the art facility, as part of an overall development plan. But we will not allow our area to be over-developed without adequate medical facilities. We appreciated Mayor Deblasio's willingness to address this issue during his campaign. Now, it's time for him and our city leaders to Walk The Walk and take action. "No Hospital? No Deal!"

  • Calling all Clergy and Lay Leaders
As ministers of the Gospel of Christ, we are required to demand justice for the poor. Citing Isaiah 61:1, Jesus began his ministry by saying, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”(Luke 4:18) A nation that shuts down its own government to avoid providing health care to millions of its citizens, causing government workers who live paycheck to paycheck to wonder how they are going to feed their families, stopping essential programs like WIC, Head Start, cancer research and punishing the most vulnerable among us, is not good news for the poor. Allowing this disrespect for law and disregard for the welfare of the nation to continue further, to the point of threatening our economy, will not be good news for anyone.

  • Open Up Wine Sales for Off-Premise Sales During Coronavirus Times
We want signatures to go to Governors and Mayors in major US cities: San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago and all others to follow New York Governor Cuomo's lead and allow restaurants to be able to sell wine to go along with their food. NewsWeek: New York To Allow Takeout Alcohol To Help Bars, Restaurants During Coronavirus Shutdown, Cuomo Says (https://www.newsweek.com/coronavirus-policy-new-york-alcohol-takeout-restaurants-bars-close-cuomo-1492562) "The changes will include allowing restaurants, bars, wineries and distilleries to sell their alcoholic products to patrons who order takeout. "Whatever you could order in the bar or restaurant or distillery or winery you can purchase through takeout, and we hope that goes a long way towards alleviating any economic hardship," Cuomo said. "We will only allow it during this period of closure, but I think it will help those businesses.""
