GMO Labeling, America's Right to KnowWhile on the campaign trail in 2007, Barack Obama promised to label GMO foods if elected. Now's the time! Today, an estimated 80% of processed foods contain GMOs. Tell President Obama you agree that the U.S. needs GMO labeling "because Americans should know what they're buying". For the past 20 years, Americans have been denied the right to know what's in their food. Help make this the Change We Can Believe In: Label GMOs! I support the labeling of foods that have been genetically engineered and agree that “Americans should know what they’re buying”. As such, I urgently implore the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to require mandatory labeling of foods meant for human or animal consumption that have been genetically engineered in laboratories or contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs). In America, we pride ourselves on having choices and making informed decisions. Under current FDA regulations, we don't have that choice when it comes to GMO ingredients in the foods we purchase and feed our families. Labeling is essential for me to choose whether or not I want to consume or feed my family genetically engineered foods. Genetically engineered foods are required to be labeled in the 15 European Union nations, Russia, Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries around the world. As an American, I firmly believe I should also have the right to know if my foods have been genetically engineered. A recent poll released by ABC News found that 93 percent of the American public wants the federal government to require mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods. As ABC News stated, "Such near-unanimity in public opinion is rare." It is my hope that you will listen to me and the other 93 percent of the American public who want mandatory labeling of GMOs. Please show your support for the interests of the American people by labeling genetically engineered foods.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elizabeth Pietrak

Protect spiritually and historically significant sites threatened by the planned route of the Key...Many risks are posed by by the KXL pipeline for First Nation people. On top of water pollution and numerous other environmental dangers, these people may face the damage or destruction of sacred and/or historically significant sites/structures- 93 in total. Moreover, the risks of water pollution include cancer- many kinds of cancer including some very rare types such as bile duct cancer. First Nation people have faced immense difficulties throughout history as they try to preserve a nature-oriented spirituality in an increasingly industrial society. In a day and age where every American is encouraged to stand up for their right to be able to practice their own individual religions, this is more than a matter of the environment, or even of the price of oil. This is a matter of morality. Urge President Obama to reconsider his support for this project. The future of energy is not in oil, and the First Nation people have struggled to hold onto their heritage for long enough.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tatiana Sprock

Body Cameras for all law enforcement officers in Putnam County FloridaAccountability is a must in public safety. It is imperative that a body worn camera program is implemented within all law enforcement agencies in Putnam County, to include the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Palatka Police Department, Interlachen Police Department and the Crescent City Police Department. It is also requested that the appropriate city/county commission assist with the cost in the 2020 budgets. Body cameras are a very vital part in the storytelling aspect of police interactions with the citizens they are sworn to protect and serve. In a field experiment conducted by the Rialto, Calif. Police Department, it was found that when police were equipped with cameras during the test period, use of force incidents and citizen complaints against officers were reduced by 50 and 90 percent respectively. Proper guidelines for body camera use are already in force for the state of Florida. (HB 93) (2016) requires law enforcement agencies that permit their officers to wear body cameras to establish policies for their proper use, maintenance, and storage of their data.373 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Concerned Citizens of Putnam County Florida

Please post!In Support of our Neighbors Devastated by the August 2011 Flood We the undersigned petition our legislators in support of our friends and neighbors in Rotterdam Junction, Middleburg and all of Schoharie County who have suffered devastation of homes, businesses and communities as a result of the August 2011 flooding. Their suffering continues because of the lack of action by government agencies and our representatives. We, the undersigned, will no longer stand by while our neighbors in Up-State New York face hunger, sub-standard living conditions, and the denial of basic necessities. Federal dollars and government support promised six months ago still have not been delivered. The $93 million allocated and needed to re-build homes, business and communities and to purchase food supplies is held up in a process of political in-fighting while church groups, private donations, and food pantries struggles to assist the thousands of families by providing bare necessities. Petitioners know the following facts and hold our elected representative responsible for these conditions: * $93 million has been allocated but not released for use! Who is responsible for this political stalemate? * Breakabeen’s food bank has run out of food to distribute to victims of the flooding. How has political inaction resulted in the inability to feed our own citizens? * Property taxes and mortgage payments are still required on devastated property that has not been rebuilt because of a lack of funding. Who in government ignores the plight of these our neighbors and will not even return calls? * Private citizens, church groups, businesses, and regional food banks continue to share donations, food and supplies with our neighbors to the extent possible. Who in government agencies should have but did not organize the necessary relief for these citizens? We, the undersigned petitioners, are now frustrated by the inaction from our political representatives to accomplish the following: * Free up the $92 million designated for immediate use in Schenectady and Schoharie Counties by those devastated by the flood of 2011. * Establish a plan to organize the delivery of resources necessary to rebuild homes, communities, and businesses so that our neighbors can return to a decent living arrangement. We, the undersigned, hold our representatives responsible to address the concerns herein listed and to respond to the needs of their constituencies in Counties impacted by flooding in 2011.52 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Quinn

ALABAMA! Label GMO's!In a country that labels everything from cosmetics to cleaning agents, it’s surprising that there are no laws in the U.S. requiring labeling of genetically engineered foods. Yet 93% of Americans believe our foods should be labeled. Many other countries including: Japan, Australia, the European Union and even China require labeling of genetically engineered foods. In addition, they and many more reject U.S. foods because they are GMO! ALABAMA, WE NEED TO DEMAND THIS NOW: “GM” or “Derived from GM”: All foods in which any single ingredient is intentionally or accidentally derived from genetically modified plants or animals must be labeled. (The European Union law provides a working example of this.) “Fed” or “Injected”: In addition, all products derived from animals that have been fed GM feed or injected with GM hormones (such as rbGH) must also be labeled. Immediate Action: We want to know which foods contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs) now. Please announce that labeling GM food is a high priority, so we can have a choice! Let Alabama join Connecticut and be the next state to approve GMO labeling!565 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Marian Webster
