Now you support SB 6442, which allows the State to take over the health care benefit plans for thousands of public education employees, this goes against my beliefs and values. The state takeover will cost taxpayers millions of dollars and it abandons a system which provides for individual choice. The current system costs less and provides more than the government-provided PEBB plan for state employees, which includes legislators. The current PEBB plan created by the state HCA costs $82 more than the State currently provides for K-12 educators. Before President Joe Biden stepped down from the presidential race, Donald Trump had agreed to participate in a debate hosted by ABC News on September 10. But days after Harris confirmed she was running for president, Trump started walking back on his commitment to the debate. The latest? Trump wants to debate Harris only on his terms and by his rules. He is agreeing only to a debate moderated by Fox “News” anchors in a MAGA-filled arena. It’s unacceptable, yet unsurprising. Harris is ready to debate Trump on September 10 and has committed to showing up either way. Last year, Trump said that he was ready to do "10 debates" with President Biden. But now that Harris is the nominee, he is backing out. It seems that Trump is terrified to debate Harris, and he should be. Trump knows that if he shows up to the debate, Harris will continue to expose his dangerous Project 2025 plan that, if implemented, would give him unchecked powers to eliminate abortion, hurt working- and middle-class people, fire civil servants, eliminate Social Security and Medicare, and roll back our rights and freedoms while reshaping all aspects of the government. But that is no excuse to back out of a debate he had already committed to. Donald Trump needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already agreed to do. Will you sign the petition?

Women don’t turn to politicians for advice about mammograms, pre-natal care or cancer treatments: and Texas women feel strongly that politicians should not be involved in personal medical decisions about their pregnancies. Yet at the Governor’s urging, the Texas Legislature is once again trying to interfere with a woman’s most personal and private decisions. Some politicians are trying to pass laws that would take the decision about abortion away from a woman and her family by shutting down women’s health centers, banning abortion at a point in pregnancy when a woman might learn about serious medical complications, and much more. Tell your legislator that you’ve had enough! Urge your elected representative to vote no on any measure that blocks access to women’s health services. Tell your legislator: DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS WOMEN.

Ever since Citizen's United, a 501(c)(4) organization, won its case against the FEC, this allowed 501(c)(4)'s to spend as much as they want in elections without the restrictions that a 527 PAC has. This is NOT okay and it can easily be fixed by IRS enforcement of standing tax laws. Remember the ruling said that the FEC could not stop a 501(c)(4) from spending money in elections because it is infringing their first amendment rights, the last high court case of the IRS fighting 501(c)(4) for political spending, the court ruled that as long as political spending wasn't its primary function, it was allowed. We can't stop 501(c)(4)'s from flooding our elections, but the IRS does have the power to revoke an organization's 501(c)(4) filing status on the grounds that they do not meet the criteria of a 501(c)(4) if most of their money is getting spent in politics. This lessens the damage of the Citizen's United problem, and brings proper light on this recent "IRS Scandal." I fully understand the irony of posting this petition on the website of a 501(c)(4) organization that is very integrated in politics. I hope everyone who sees this understands that this fact about MoveOn is deplorable. I wish organizations like this would not play the same dirty game and then claim to be "progressive" at the same time.
