  • NC DOT Secretary Anthony Tata: Don't discriminate against non-citizens in North Carolina with pin...
Secretary Tata, the pink drivers licenses are a modern-day scarlet letter for DACA-recipients and all non-citizens in North Carolina. We demand that you remove "No Lawful Status" and issue the same licenses to all North Carolinians.

  • Child Support Laws are not fair!
Change the laws to allow for correction of child support arrearages that have been paid regardless of time elapsed or regardless of judgments saying otherwise! Allow ALL provable or official payments made for child support to be accepted into the records of both the court and the attorney general's office regardless of how long ago they were made and regardless of whether or not there is a current incorrect judgement saying that the payments were not paid. Also, allow the over-paid amounts to be required to be paid back to the person who over-paid them by the recipient of those payments in the same way regular child support payments are made including the applicable interest.

  • Flood Insurance Rates Skyrocket!
The Honorable William Craig Fugate, Administrator Federal Emergency Management Agency
500 C Street SW
Washington, DC 20472 Dear Administrator Fugate: The National Flood Insurance Program provides homeowners with property coverage in the event of flooding and is required for many homeowners across the country. The Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act, signed into law July 2012, contains provisions for phased-in automatic premium rate increases for many policyholders. The flood map has been considerably increased adding homes that are not affected by wetlands to pay premiums too. Many areas of the country will be negatively affected by these actuarial risk-based premium rate increases that are anticipated to rise 20 to 25 percent each year for the next four to five years. Such increases will place tremendous burdens on the budgets of residents, that may lead to personal bankruptcy and foreclosure, decreased property values, diminish communities tax base, negatively affecting services including schools, Fire, Police Departments and towns’ vital infrastructure. Sincerely, FEMA Document: http://nfipiservice.com/Stakeholder/FEMA/Attachment%20A%20Summary%20of%20the%20NFIP%20October%202013%20Program%20Changes%20final.txt

  • Gross Abuse of Power by Huntsville, Alabama Police Department
While in route to a burial site in Huntsville, Alabama this past Friday, August 12, 2011, the Huntsville police department FAILED MISERABLY in their duties to protect & serve. They treated us disrespectfully by yelling at us, pointing fingers & talking to us as if we were criminals when we were simply trying tp pay our last respects. They maliciously & intentionally disconnected my daughter & I, (along with several US veterans from Tennessee & Georgia), from a burial procession. Although we pleaded with the officers to allow us into the procession, called 911 to ask them to contact the officers & ask them to allow us into the procession, they refused, WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION. They, (particularly the office driving car # 1868), straddled between 2 lanes to prevent us from passing them to the point of creating an extreme gap between us & the procession, intentionally causing us to miss traffic lights. When we proceeded thru the lights they threatened to write $250.00 tickets. They did this, inspite of the funeral stickers which were clearly visible in the windshield of our vehicles. They could also see our out of state licence plates. We contacted their supervisor & internal affairs to no avail. We finally found out from the funeral director that Huntsville, Al has a limit on the number of cars that can participate in a funeral procession. YES!!!!! THEY ACTUALLY HAVE AN ORDINANCE THAT LIMITS THE NUMBER OF CARS THAT CAN FOLLOW YOU TO THE CEMETARY IF YOU ARE BURIED IN HUNTSVILLE, AL. I believe this to be a violation of our first ammendment right to peacefully organize, without regard to numbers. I believe this is a violation of our civil liberties as US Citizens and the ordinance needs to be abolished & the police officers disciplined for their blatent abuse of power.

  • Make LBT Bus Passes more accessible to CSULB students!
CSULB started participating in the LA Metro Universal College Student Transit (U-Pass) Program in 2008, providing current CSULB students free bus passes (LA Metro, Long Beach Current 2021). In 2020, the university dropped out of the program rising costs (Long Beach Current 2024). Since then, CSULB students’ options for sustainable, affordable, and reliable transportation have been limited, resulting in backlash from students who rely on public transportation to attend school. In response to the university increasing bus pass costs from a one-time $5 fee to $40 a semester (an 800 percent fee increase) in 2019, a student started a petition, frustrated that the cost increase does not reflect the university’s alleged commitments to sustainability (Long Beach Current 2019). As of Fall 2025, a 150-day Go Beach! Bus Pass costs $100 USD (CSULB Parking and Transportation Services). This is a 150 percent fee increase compared to 2019. While this price may seem appropriate for some students, we know there are also students unable to pay this price. The Students for Transportation Access Network (STAN) affirms that reliable and accessible transportation is a basic need, and educational institutions should provide a safety net for students who fall through the cracks of inaccessible pricing options. STAN has two core demands: 1. Offer at least 200, 150-Day Go Beach! Discounted Bus Passes to CSULB students who meet specific criteria every semester. This program would serve as a safety net to students who rely solely on Long Beach Transit (LBT) to get to and from CSULB. 2. Implement a feature in the BeachGO mobile app that allows users to redeem in-app points accrued from sustainable transportation to purchase a 150-Day Go Beach, discounted Bus Pass. Our two demands will (1) heavily encourage sustainable transportation, (2) increase the accessibility of sustainable and reliable transportation to low-income students, and (3) increase students’, staff's, and faculty’s demand for sustainable transportation, allowing the university as a whole to meet its sustainability objectives.
