To: Senator Richard Burr

Senator Richard Burr Must Go!

Senator Richard Burr does not represent the ethical values of the vast majority of Americans and particularly the North Carolinians he purports to serve. Senator Burr must resign. Not only did he put his personal financial interests above the interests of his constituents, he chose to give advance warning to a few wealthy elites about the potential scope of the Coronavirus while he was telling the general public that everything was under control. Senator Burr failed his duties to his constituents and he must go.

Why is this important?

The public has the right to trust its public servants are serving the public and not themselves. Senator Burr used non-public information to better his personal financial interests and he shared that information with a few wealthy elites while he told the general public not to worry. I am running to represent North Carolina's 11th Congressional District because restoring integrity and accountability in Washington is vital to pull our democracy out of the nosedive it's in now. I pledge that if I am elected, I will put my assets in a true blind trust and I challenge other candidates from all parties to take the same pledge. If elected, I will introduce legislation that requires every member of Congress, the President and the Vice President to put their assets into blind trusts. That will give meaning to the phrase "government ethics" rather than making it a punchline for a bad joke.
