Skokie Residents Say NO to I.C.E.
We ask that the Village of Skokie pass a strong resolution to protect our community and prohibit cooperation or compliance with I.C.E activities, including:
- Preventing the use of I.C.E. access to Village owned property as staging areas or processing locations for civil immigration enforcement operations.
- Preventing the disclosure of an individual's citizenship or immigration status unless required by federal law or a valid legal process.
- Prohibiting I.C.E. activity in our community to the greatest extent of the law.
Why is this important?
As one of the most diverse communities in the country, Skokie welcomes everyone. We condemn the recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) activity and the fear and uncertainty terrorizing our friends, family, and neighbors. We stand with all immigrants and we denounce any attempt to justify these barbaric actions as anything less than racist and xenophobic.
