STOP CIRCUS SUFFERING NOW!

Since their capture at 5 years of age, Loomis Bros Circus elephants have been on the receiving end of electric prods and bullhooks. Okha, approximately 52 yrs old, has been forced to perform tricks on slippery mud, performing such atrocities as balancing her entire body on her head while balancing on a ball.
Brian Franzen who owns and rents out these creatures at the Loomis Bros. Circus and Shrine circuses, has said he “sprays cayenne pepper in tigers’ eyes and noses when they refuse to obey (his) commands." https://www.peta.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/PETA-2021-white-paper-big-cats-suffer-traveling-acts.pdf
Please adopt legislation banning exotic animal acts, as the Ringling Circus has done and hundreds of other municipalities, states, and countries now do!
Please refer to the attached from the Animal Legal Defense Fund https://aldf.org/article/protecting-animals-through-local-legislation/prohibiting-circuses-and-traveling-acts-that-use-animals/
In September of 2022, each Sarasota Co Commissioner was presented with a comprehensive informational packet, including sample legislation passed in other Florida municipalities. I would welcome the opportunity to again review this information with you. Thank you for your consideration.

Why is this important?

We need to be the voice for these creatures who were torn from their families & home country while still infants, instead of being bound, with bullhooks pierced into sensitive areas of their bodies, and their limbs splayed out and tied to force them to learn to lie down on command. It has been well-documented that extremely violent training methods have been used to break these creatures down. Please make a difference and support this ban.
