SUPPORT THE REDISTRICTING REFORM ACT THAT BANS PARTISIAN GERRYMANDERING
Some southern state legislators have redrawn voting district maps. This aimed to fracture the voice of communities that have historically been marginalized. Some southern states' maps have already been gerrymandered. This undermines not only the principle of equal representation but also disrespects the historical struggle for civil and voting rights.
The impact of gerrymandering stretches far beyond just electoral disadvantages. It erodes trust in the political system, polarizes communities, and discourages voter participation. When boundaries are drawn solely for political gain, democracy itself is at risk. Our state and our country deserve better; the American people deserve to cast their votes in a fair and just electoral system.
