Tell Congress: No Subsidies for Private Jets!
Let's support H.R.8644, the Stop Subsidizing Private Jets Act.
Private jets are indefensible and absurd. They are gigantic contributors to climate change, polluting 10-20x more per passenger-mile than commercial flights.
And thanks to “bonus depreciation,” a billionaire could get an immediate 40% discount on their private jet purchase -- a tax benefit that the rest of us are paying for.
This is a giveaway, subsidizing the richest Americans for one of their most antisocial behaviors, and making working Americans pick up the tab. It’s a waste of public money while so many are struggling with affordability, and it’s an insult to the rest of us.
Why is this important?
Today, a billionaire could be buying a $100 million private jet.
But you’re paying for it too. Thanks to a tax rule called bonus depreciation, that billionaire could get $40 million back, immediately, as tax savings. A “bonus” indeed, paid for by working people like you and me.

We must close this loophole, and that's what HR 8644, the Stop Subsidizing Private Jets Act would do. It was just introduced by three House Democrats: Eugene Vindman (VA), Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI), and Greg Landsman (OH).
