TMC Dress Code Log

We, Townview students,  feel that the dress code on campus is enforced without accountability for teachers and staff enforcing it. We also feel that the dress code is being enforced unfairly onto students with bigger or curvier features. Finally, we feel certain administrators are showing their biases towards their school by not dress coding students of their school.

As a solution to these grievances, we propose that all dress code violations be logged. The entries into the log will include the teacher/staff members name, students name and school, and a citation of the specific article of clothing that violates dress code.

We feel a dress code log would help to remedy our issues by keeping dress codes on record, stopping teachers from issuing dress codes haphazardly and without reason, as well as provide data for which teachers/staff are issuing dress codes, and from what school the students being dress coded are from.

Why is this important?

Students should feel that their bodies are not ground for discrimination or bias. Also, students should also feel comfortable on campus knowing that teachers are being held accountable for issuing false dress code violations willy nilly.
