Unfounded cries of voter fraud have become the standard operating procedure of many politicians on the right any time the election does not go their way.
Let's tell Congress to enact legislation to make unfounded accusations of voter fraud a Federal crime, to include both criminal and civil penalties. Anyone who knowingly makes an unfounded allegation of voter fraud should be held personally responsible for payment of all fees associated with the investigation, should be criminally charged, and should be banned from running for or holding public office again. This must stop.
Why is this important?
This is costly not only in the monetary cost, but also in the damage done to our democracy and eroding faith in our elections. Such allegations are leading to violence and further division in our country. This must be stopped.
