All Essential Workers Need Hazardous Pay. Make hazardous pay available to all Essential Workers in Healthcare regardless if their facilities have or do not have Covid-19 positive cases. Make hazardous pay available for ALL types of Essential Workers and not just Healthcare Workers.
The virus is asymptomatic and healthcare workers and other types of Essential Workers are being exposed. Some healthcare workers are now responsible for solely providing for their families on one income. Healthcare Essential workers are risking their lives everyday and still we are not even offered to test. As of June 6th 2 Foster/ Group homes in all of Linn County increased pay to all employees but only those 2. The virus is deadly. Most group home employees do not have benefits such as workers comp, sick pay, vacation pay or medical insurance. Some are still not practicing social distancing at these healthcare facilities when caring for patients and they are putting these healthcare workers at higher risk to be in contact with covid-19. Healthcare facility essential workers are not provided with the proper PPE, such as N-95 masks. Until the facilities actually test the residents and staff, we are to work as normal when we could actually all have the virus. We should receive an extra $600 per week just like non-essential workers. Essential Workers are not just healthcare workers, but they are restaurant workers, fast food workers, and store workers. We are the Heroes sacrificing our lives for America and especially for our families and yours.
