End Religion In Government
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
This is the First Amendment, meaning it was truly believed to be the single most important Amendment of the American Constitution. However, since this country's founding Christianity, specifically Evangelical Christianity had sought to slime its way into every level of government and legislation.
From the earliest days legislators used the Christian faith as their guiding principles in the creation of law. That led to the acceptance of slavery, oppression of women and minorities, hate towards LGBTQ peoples, attacks on the bodily autonomy of women and their right to choose. It has also led to a multi-billion dollar industry managing to completely avoid taxation, while forcing their faithful to donate to them.
It is time we end systemic religion and its interference in American law and government. I propose that all religion be permanently and immediately banned from any level of government and that any law that is based on religious beliefs or values be struck down as unconstitutional.
I further recommend that any public official, regardless of the level or branch of the government in which they serve, be barred from any religious statements, quotes, or public expression while operating in official capacity. During the times they are not actively working as a public servant they may be permitted to do as they wish. However, if they are acting as an official or making a statement, legislation, or other form of press release as an official and they use religious beliefs or scripture as a basis, they must be immediately removed from office as an enemy of the Constitution and not permitted to hold such an honor again.
Evangelical Christianity has started wars, caused hate crimes, and committed countless atrocities against the Indigenous and American Citizens. It is way past time for this to end. We are a nation of technology, logic, and science, religion is none of these and should be kept solely to one's private life and churches.
End the oppression of America by the Christian religion and its zealous followers.
Why is this important?
If we are to be a country of religious freedom, then we need to be a country free from religious influence in our laws and government. For no one who lives under laws created by religious influence and zealotry has freedom of religion, only freedom to be subjugated under a singular religion.
