Estheticians, Massage Therapists, & Beauty Professionals Going Back to Work
Allow licensed estheticians, massage therapists & beauty professionals to perform their respective services, privately with one client in their office, spa or salon per professional at a time, starting ASAP. All necessary precautions and sanitation protocols approved by the state of New Mexico and the local Board of Health will be followed. Our industry needs to be recognized & deemed as an essential business so we can better serve our community.
Servicing one client at a time (while wearing a mask & gloves) poses little if any risk of spreading the virus, as compared to 20 or more people in a grocery store or 10 plus people at restaurants picking up food. We will only be working with one client at a time and we will stagger the days that each professional will work, to keep the room, spa or salon having only the professional service provider and the client in it at a time. We need to work as for many of us there is no additional way to get income. Additionally taking care of physical self improves our mental & emotional health. “Selfcare is healthcare.”

Why is this important?
The survival of the independent health & beauty professionals is at risk. Many are already in grave financial hardship while others are on their way. Many of us cannot pay our bills or buy food now and others are close behind if we don’t get back to work soon,
Please consider this petition to let us work again. We know & comply with the rules of sanitation everyday already in our work environment & understand them better than the average person because we are licensed through the state of New Mexico. We know how to properly clean and sanitize all of our tools and work space. All we have to do is add masks as many already use gloves and aprons & wipe down any surfaces our clients touch.
