Giving Land Back to Indigenous People’s in Pierce, Texas

The Karankawa Tribe of Native American Indigenous Peoples owned land all throughout the Houston Area. This land is now stolen and occupied by non native peoples.

The Karankawa Plains Outfitting Company is a company that offers hunting and lodging on a large piece of land in Pierce, Texas, once owned by the actual Indigenous Peoples of the Karankawa Tribe.

This Company is owned by all White Men and Women, specifically descendants of Abel Head Pierce, a man who served in the Confederate Army, who make a large amounts of money from the hunting of animals on stolen land and the lodging offered to Hunters.

They also own the online domain name of Karankawa.com, and it is problematic and a product of White Supremacy that this website is owned by people who not only are not Indigenous, but also making money off of the stolen land of the same tribe that they own the domain name to.

This petition is to request that the Karankawa Outfitting Company make reperations to the Indigenous Peoples of the Karankawa Tribe by doing the following :

- Changing the name and emblem of their hunting Company as it is problematic that White Men and Women who use this name to hunt on stolen Indigenous Land and use aesthetics to brand their company that resemble designs of the people that they have occupied stolen land from.

- Giving Up and returning 2/3 of the 32,000 acres the Pierce Ranch hunting grounds consists of, back to the Indigenous Karankawa Tribe that their land is on that they make money off of.

-Donating 40% of all profits from hunting and lodging to organizations that support local Indigenous Karankawa Peoples

- Giving up the online domain name “Karankawa.com” so that it may be used by Indigenous Karankawa People

Why is this important?

Our nation was founded on stolen land. It is important in the dismantling of White Supremacy for reparations to be given to the Indigenous and Afro-Indigenous people who’s land we are on, including the returning of said land. The family who owns this land and company are direct descendants of a man who fought for the confederate army, the side that fought to own slaves. This is a textbook example of consequences of generations of White Supremacy and Anti-Black racism that need to
be fought against to provide Equity to the BIPOC community
