NH Hair Salons/One client at a time Re-open May 5th

Allow licensed beauty professional to perform hair care services privately with one client in the salon / per stylist at a time. Starting as of Monday May 5th, 2020. All necessary precautions and sanitation protocols approved by the state of NH and the local board of NH cosmetolgy will be followed. Our industry needs to be recognized as a business of integrity, of the highest standards of sanitation and that we provide a necessary and essential service to the community.
Servicing one client at a time (while both client and stylist wearing a mask) keeps us in a "controlled" environment, keeping the the risk factor down immensely. With proper sanitation and procedure we would most assuradely be safer then going to the grocery store where there are unlimited exposure risks.
Why is this important?
1. Hair dressers will start doing hair at home and in clients homes. It's already being requested and being done , although not by our salon. We have had numerous requests from clients begging us to come to their homes and requests from NURSES.
2. When this happens there will be no accounting for money being paid. No income tax withheld, no self employment tax being withheld. There will be no accountability at all financially.
3. All sanitation requirements are not going to be able to be followed and exposure becomes heightened.
4. Many stylists live on the tips that they make and while unemployment will give them some of their pay, for many this is a reimbursment for already low wages. As they typically make hourly wage or low commision. For the self-employed booth renter it's a double hit. No pay and in most cases a contractual agreement to pay rent for their space along with other expenses that come from being self-employed.
Many stylists and salons have now been without income for 3 weeks and by the May 5th re-opening will have had no income for 8 weeks. This is devasting for our industry as a business, stylist and client.
Please ask Govenor Sununu to consider us as we move towards the re-opening deadline of May 4th.
