Demand Felony Charges Against DHS and Leadership for Child Endangerment

A newborn in Minneapolis hadn’t eaten for a day and a half.

Her mother had risked going into work to get just enough money for more diapers when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents stopped her car and took her away. At home waiting for her were her 16-year-old daughter and the baby — just barely 3 months old.

With their mother gone, the teenager tried to feed the baby, who was exclusively breastfed, formula to no avail.

- When one mother was taken by ICE, another stepped in to donate breastmilk - By Chabeli Carrazana

The shield of federal authority does not grant a license for child endangerment. By allowing DHS to operate without basic humanitarian safeguards, the Federal Government is actively violating its fundamental duty of care. If the law is to be respected, it must first be respectable. We must hold leadership accountable for these reckless actions before a narrow escape becomes a permanent tragedy

Why is this important?

Under the guise of "law and order," recent enforcement operations conducted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Government—directed by Secretary Kristi Noem—have demonstrated a depraved indifference to human life.

Specifically, these operations resulted in the separation of infants from their primary sources of nutrition and care, leaving them in life-threatening conditions. In one documented instance, a tragedy was only averted because a local woman stepped in to donate breast milk. State-sponsored enforcement should never require private charity to prevent the death of an infant.

OUR CLAIMS

  1. Reckless Endangerment: The failure to screen for nursing infants and primary caregivers constitutes a blatant disregard for the safety of minors.

  2. Breach of Duty: The government has a legal and moral "Duty of Care" to ensure that its actions do not leave children abandoned or starved.

  3. Abuse of Power: Using federal authority to bypass basic humanitarian safeguards is a violation of the public trust and a threat to the safety of our community.

OUR DEMAND

We, the undersigned, formally request that the Office of the Attorney General expand its current investigations to include:

  • Felony Child Endangerment charges against the Department of Homeland Security.

  • Criminal Accountability for Secretary Kristi Noem for the direct oversight of operations that placed innocent children in immediate peril.

  • A Permanent Injunction against any future enforcement actions that do not include verified, transparent protocols for the safety of infants and children.
