Reopen Limited Visitation for Elderly Care Facilities and Patients Facing Death

Reopen Limited Visitation for Elderly Care Facilities and Patients Facing Death.

Why is this important?

My mother passed away last night. Because of the lockdown due to COVID-19, I was not able to visit her at her long term nursing facility and comfort her in her advanced dementia state. Attempt to visit via Skype video conference was confusing and upsetting for her and me as well. Hospice care was restricted in their visits.

Mine is not the only story like this. Loved ones are being isolated and allowed to languish and die without comforting words or touch. Families are faced with their loved ones passing without proper goodbyes. Good physical health for both is dependent upon good mental health. Current measures are torture to the latter.

Please consider reopening facilities for patients and families facing end of life diagnosis and care.
