Save the Wilshire Building on Broadway (home to Jai Thai and several other businesses)

Preserve the building and businesses by either making it a historic landmark, that cannot be demolished OR preserve the facade of the Wilshire Building and give the option to grandfather in current businesses.

Why is this important?

ATTENTION. The Wilshire Building on Broadway is set to be demolished for a 7 story box! The new building will not be keeping the façade. It will literally be a 7 story residential box. The Wilshire is one of the oldest buildings on Capitol Hill, with unique/ ornate features. Home to Jai Thai, Mud Bay, Revival, and Studio 229 Salon & Spa. All of these businesses will be displaced. I’m not sure if they have found new homes, but some of these businesses have been here for decades! I’m all for new AND affordable housing, but this is not the place. There are parking lots and a plethora of single family homes in Seattle. Tacoma just changed the language of their zoning laws to allow smaller multifamiy developments in single family neighborhoods. It is time for Seattle to do the same. I digress.. Please sign this petition to support the preservation of this building and businesses.
