    We ask that the Chesterfield Select Board cancel the auction of land parcels 40-4 East Street, 24-7 River Road, and 27-28 Main Road and engage in talks with the Hilltown Land Trust and other conservation groups in order to give these parcels of land permanent, protected status. Furthermore, we insist that, in the future, the Select Board involve relevant conservation groups including the Westfield River Wild and Scenic Advisory Committee early on in any discussions pertaining to what ought to be done with undeveloped town lands.

  • Ban Firearms In National Parks
    Sec. 512 of P.L.111-24, effective on February 22, 2010, makes it legal to carry firearms in National Parks. Yet most rangers do not carry firearms and it is still illegal to hunt in most National Parks. This law encourages wildlife poaching and increased destruction of historic or cultural resources. Further, no longer are natural predators the biggest threat to personal safety. That distinction now belongs to human beings. Overturn this law and allow our National Parks to once again be enjoyed without the inherent danger that comes with firearms.

Only the neighborhood watch patrol members of the New York Chapter of the Black Afrikan Infrastructure (BAI) can question the people, and especially the youth, of the community and will operate as a liaison or buffer between the people of the community and the NYC Police Department.

    Gone are the days of a bustling industrial warehouse district. Welcome to modern day Jack London Square as a vibrant commercial and residential district with live music venues, destination restaurants, boutique hotels, luxury condos, lofts and apartments. And then there's Amtrak...with its lack of safety fences and crossing protection (dangerous), the idling of it diesel engines up to one hour (air pollution), chronic and abusive blowing of the whistles 24/7 (noise pollution). Put a no whistle zone and create safety barriers to prevent death to pedestrians.

    Allow healthcare to pay the cost for addicts who want help. I have a 25 year old son who is currently in the Phoenix House seeking help for opioid addiction. He wants to stay to get the long term help he needs but the facility can't keep him there because his Ins. through the state will not cover his treatment. How are we going to help the number of people dying from addiction if they can't get the help they need.

    We, the undersigned, oppose the establishment of a corporate owned, for profit immigrant detention center in Joliet, Illinois or anywhere else in the State of Illinois. Corrections Corporation of America, the company currently proposing the facility, has had a repeated history of cutting corners with proper medical treatment for their occupants. Workers have complained about being overworked and underpaid. Additionally, privatization leads to inflated budgets. According to the Governor’s Finance Officer Associations, 25% of all contract prices are waste hidden in undisclosed and indirect costs.
