We, the undersigned petitioners, firmly insist that the New Jersey Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee add John Henry Lawson to its Medal of Honor roll. As the committee is already aware, Mr. Lawson was a member of the gun-crew on the USS Hartford, whose commander, Admiral Ferragut, famously yelled at the Battle of Mobile Bay, “Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead! Badly wounded by an enemy shell that had killed most of his gun party, Lawson stayed at his position supplying ammunition till the enemy was subdued. For his actions on August 5, 1863 Lawson was awarded the Medal of Honor. Lawson and his large family moved to Camden during the 1870s. From that period through the 1880s, the Lawsons lived on Branch Street in the Centerville section of the city. Following his death in Philadelphia, in 1919, Lawson was buried in Lawnside, New Jersey. Some of his descendants still reside in south Jersey. Whereas, John Henry Lawson established deep roots in New Jersey and; and Whereas, the social benefits of inclusion should be a goal of the publicly supported New Jersey Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee; and Whereas the Sesquicentennial Committee already features Mr. Lawson as a New Jersey serviceman on its website at http://www.njcivilwar150.org/njgtw.htm; We petition the committee to add the name of African American hero John Henry Lawson to its website and other databases identifying Medal of Honor winners from New Jersey [http://www.njcivilwar150.org/njmoh.htm].

It's time to put an end to campaign lying. Let's get together on this now, so the next round of campaigning can be clean and clear of all BS. This petition puts forth a call for congress to pass a bill that requires all campaigns for house and senate congress positions as well as presidential position campaigns to run honest ads and debates.

Voting lines that are so long, they require pure physical endurance to vote are limiting access to the voting franchise. Some voters cannot take massive numbers of hours away from their job, while others cannot physically hold up under such conditions due to reasons of health and or disability. We can run our elections in a more efficient way and request that Congress utalize it's Constitutional authority in improving the voting process for all Federal elections.

We, the undersigned, call on the Stark County Board Of Elections to publicly support uniform, expanded early voting hours across Ohio.

Mr. President and Governor Romney, we ask you to please go to Oak Creek and take a stand against hatred, racism, xenophobia, and all other forms of intolerance. We ask you both to briefly put aside your heated campaign for the presidency and, for the good of the nation, help the people of Oak Creek, the Sikh-American community, and the greater American community, come together and heal. Your voices could make clear that such acts of terror are acts against this great nation, and against humanity. And your presence would demonstrate your solidarity with all people who face bigotry and discrimination. Please show the people of the Oak Creek Gurdwara that America stands with them, and that we as a nation will work tirelessly to prevent such an act from ever happening again. Thank you.
