  • California: Stop toxic wastewater dumping by oil companies
Please stop oil companies from dumping their wastewater into open, unlined pits. The State Water Board must stand up to the oil industry and prohibit this inappropriate disposal method. In California, there are hundreds of pits operating without adequate oversight or permits, and are threatening water quality. The Board should do its job and protect groundwater from oil industry wastes. In this extreme drought, California MUST protect depleted aquifers and all sources of drinking and irrigation water. It's time for a permanent ban on disposing oil and gas wastewater into open pits.

  • Microsoft: End Your Domain Awareness System (DAS) Surveillance Partnership with the NYPD
We’re calling on Microsoft to immediately end its partnership with the NYPD on the Domain Awareness System. In 2008, Microsoft partnered with the NYPD to create the Domain Awareness System (DAS), a dystopian surveillance command center that would make George Orwell shudder. It's been in use ever since. Microsoft has sought public support for its refusal to sell police facial recognition, but that was never was one of their products. Meanwhile, the NYPD is set to spend $31.4 million more on the DAS in 2020 alone. The question is, will Microsoft put the millions of dollars ahead of its newfound principles? If Microsoft wants to be applauded for taking a stand, it needs to take a genuine one. Join us in telling Microsoft to #DitchTheDAS

  • Tell Congress: No Bets on War
Allowing bets on war, terrorism, assassinations, and other government actions — which incentivize decision-makers to pursue outcomes that serve their financial interests — is corrupt, dangerous, and morally bankrupt. I urge you to pass the BETS OFF Act (S.4115/H.R.7955) to stop bets on war.

  • No credit check when seeking employment
I want to petition a law to abolish credit checks for people trying to get a job in the USA. I believe that in this economy, where millions of people have struggled with being laid off of jobs due to economic hardships and of no fault of their own should not undergo a credit check. Maybe a handful of people have good credit but alot of us have had to struggle surviving only on unemployment. I, as a matter of fact, was employed at the same job for over 25 years. Once they had closed down, I was faced with collecting unemployment, my regular bills did not go down and I had to struggle on 250.00 per week from unemployment. Of course I was not able to pay bills on time!!! No my credit is bad and an employer considers "that" a reason not to hire me??? I have been loyal and faithful to my employer for many years and my credit should not be a portrait of who I am!!!
