Access to abortion care is under serious threat nationwide, as states continue to pass burdensome and dangerous restrictions. An increasing number of states are implementing draconian laws around reproductive health care—or completely banning abortion outright. Since 2010, more than 400 restrictions on abortion care have been enacted in various states. Soon, our presidential candidates Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump will take to the debate stage. As September draws closer, we need to know that ABC News moderators will prioritize a real conversation about essential reproductive health care on the debate stage. Voters deserve to know exactly where their candidates stand on abortion rights.

To the University of New Mexico Board of Regents and President Garnett Stokes: We, the undersigned students, faculty, alumni, staff, and community members, urgently call on you to take clear, immediate, and effective action to address the rapidly worsening climate crisis to confront its impacts on our university, our state, and our future. The evidence is undeniable. New Mexico is already living through the consequences of climate chaos—historic drought, deadly wildfires, extreme heat, and vanishing water supplies. These impacts aren’t distant projections–they are disrupting lives, threatening public health, and deepening inequalities across our communities. We are calling for accountability as UNM released its first Climate Action Plan in 2009, with a goal of reducing 80% of 2006-level emissions by 2030. However, recent inventories show only an 11% reduction, demonstrating that UNM is not on track to meeting its original goal. The UNM Sustainability Strategic Plan launched in 2025 has an updated goal of a 45% reduction in emissions by 2030. The university must stay on track or surpass this goal to contribute to climate targets of limiting warming on Earth at 1.5°C or well below 2°C, as to avoid the most severe and irreversible impacts of the climate crisis. Therefore, we urge you to:         1. Successfully execute the Sustainability Strategic Plan and achieve at minimum, a 45% reduction in campus emissions by 2030. As outlined in the plan, this will be achieved primarily through a transition of the campus operations to renewable energy. We emphasize the importance of prioritizing energy sources with the least extractive impacts to Indigenous and frontline communities and lands.         2. Create a formal plan and timeline to achieve Carbon Neutrality, no later than 2050, including yearly progress reports from the Office of Sustainability. Within this plan, we expect you to include the full divestment of the University's holdings in the fossil fuel industry. Additionally, in mitigating remaining emissions, we encourage you to invest into maintaining and expanding local carbon sinks (campus arboretums, Rio Grande Bosque, etc.) rather than relying on market-based mechanisms, such as carbon credits.         3. Establish and maintain a permanent Sustainability Advisory Council and Sustainability Corps by Fall 2026 that ensures involvement of students, community members, staff, faculty, alumni, and experts in climate-related decision making processes and advocacy work.         4. Protect and Uplift Student Organizing and Free Speech, including the members of UNM Leaders for Environmental Action and Foresight (LEAF), the Sustainable Design Collective (SDC), Lobo Gardens Club, UNM for Justice in Palestine (UNM4JP), Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA), Kiva Club, Students Demand Action, and other student activist groups as an essential component of UNM’s climate response. As a first step, we urge you to preemptively reject the Trump administration’s Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education, and any future attempts that would limit student organizing and free speech on campus.  We recognize that decarbonizing an institution as large as UNM requires resources, coordination, and long-term planning while paying close attention to environmental justice issues in the process.  However, we believe as the flagship public university in New Mexico, UNM has a profound responsibility—not only to educate but to lead. The actions you take will define whether our institution is a beacon of justice and sustainability or a bystander in the face of crisis. This is a pivotal moment. The decisions you make today will shape the world we inherit tomorrow. We do not have the luxury of delay.  The climate emergency is here—and so are we. The Greater Chaco region of New Mexico is home to Chaco Canyon, extensive Ancestral Pueblo ruins, and Navajo communities. These public lands are considered the cultural heart of the American Southwest and are under attack. Despite years of public protest, on December 5 and 6, 2018, the Bureau of Land Management held an oil and gas lease sale of land parcels across the Greater Chaco Landscape to the highest bidder. These leases and fracking developments threaten the area’s rich cultural resources, treasured landscapes, and living Native communities, and must be stopped. Bureau of Land Management, please stop the exploitation of this irreplaceable cultural landscape and implement safeguards to protect the culture and communities across the Greater Chaco Landscape, the heart of which lies in Chaco Culture National Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I petition for a new law to take effect for the abuser of the victims of domestic violence and child abuse (especially children with ADDHD or other disabilities) to have mandatory psychological evaluation and to attend mandatory anger management, parenting classes, family counseling , work with a health coach and personal private counseling in hope to reunite family members, child and parent. This is especially important for abusers with a confirmed past of childhood trauma, abandonment, neglect, physical and sexual abuse. This will help STOP the cycle of continuing mental and physical abuse on the next generation of victims and children. I am a survivor of domestic violence and my daughter was sexually abused, with continuation of mental abuse and bullying from the abuser.

The West Bank's beloved Triple Rock Social Club is slated to permanently close it's doors this November. We call on the Metropolitan Airports Commission to provide refuge for a new incarnation of the Triple Rock in MSP's Terminal 2, commonly known as the Humphrey Terminal.

WE THE PEOPLE of the United States of America, do hereby petirion the Whitehouse, US Senate, House of Representatives and State Governments. To take on an Infrastructure project that will make the building of the Hover Dam seem small. One which will keep all Americans working for the next 3 decades or more. Over 60 years ago a small but important publication called Popular Mechanics wrote about the Cities, Highways and rail sytems of the future. It is now time to take on that vision and build a Magnetic Highspeed Rail System in all directions across this great nation. We can utilize the Interstate Highways right of way by building two lanes down the center of every Interstate east to west and north to south. It would have stops and depots at every major city and every major intersection of our interstates. The US Government would partner itself with the private sector and subsidize the building of our New and improved transportation system. We would dedicate the new system to soully handle passenger travel and then dedicate our old railways to the hauling of freight, making rail travel safer and faster. Included in this High Speed Magnetic Rail system would be the construction of High capasity electric windmills at every county it crosses. Not only to power the system but to supply it surplus energy to those counties and states, ensuring our power grid acrossed the USA. We could also enclude new Power stations along our interstates to power our new fleet of hybrid cars and buses. Now to the people of the USA, this infrastructure would affect every citizen, so if your a voter or not this is your chance to make your voice heard as it affects us all. We will see the increase in manufacturing facilities for the construction of the rails, cars and much more. Every city would have to prepare for the New Generations of tomorrow as they travel for business or pleasure. Now before you sign this Petition, please take a moment to close your eyes and imagine leaving New York City at 7 AM and being in L.A. Californina by 7 PM, then leaving L.A. at noon the following day and being in Orlando, FL by Midnight and spending a day at Disney World and then Leaving at midnight and arriving back in New York by 7 AM or sooner. Our Airways are already over crowded and safety is an issue and when the airways are shutdown due to weather we will still be able to travel these new railways of the future.
