Dump Harry ReidIn 2007 the Democrats re-gained control of the Senate and Harry Reid became the Senate Majority Leader. In that time countless progressive legislation has been introduced but has been shot down because of the threat of a Republican filibuster. And that is the precisely what has been happening. Republicans only THREATEN to filibuster. Rand Paul's recent filibuster of John Brennan was the real thing. He got up and argued the issue. Everyone remembers Strom Thrumonds famous filibuster. What people seem to forget is that the Civil Rights Bill did indeed pass. This week the Senate voted on a bill that would expand criminal background checks for gun buyers. Over 90% of Americans agree with this and other gun control measures. Yet even though 54 members of the Senate voted in favor of the bill it was still defeated just because the Senate threatened to filibuster. Oh, and one of the 47 Senators who voted against the bill WAS HARRY REID! It's time that the Senate Democrats have a leader who can inspire people and is willing to stand up to their empty threats. Who is willing to call Republicans out and hold firm. Someone who's interest lie with the people, not with keeping his cushy job.121 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Nathan Cox

Stop the MTA Fare Hike that could Affect MTA NICE Bee-Line Roosevelt Island TramwayWe are residents and tourists depends on MTA Subway, Buses, Staten Island Railway, Nassau Inter County Express, Bee-Line Buses and Roosevelt Island Tramway, along with MTA Metro-North and Long Island Railroad. If MTA Board Increases fare, NICE Bus operated by Veolia in Nassau County; Bee-Line Buses operated by Liberty Lines Transit Inc. in Westchester County, and Roosevelt Island Tramway operated by RIOC has to follow MTA's fare hike or other otherwise proposal Unlimited MetroCard might not be accepted because currently all these transit agencies take MetroCard. Metro-North and Long Island Railroad fare increase are also affected. Right aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, many victims has suffered by storm and it is unfair for people who are working or became poor by devasting Hurricane Sandy. Some people lost cars, which most car or taxi riders are now using public transportation. We are asking MTA to stop 2013 fare hike and we are already tired after last year's fare increase by MetroCard fare hike. We are also asking MTA to restore 1-Day Unlimited Pass because lots of tourists are unhappy with elimation of 1-Day Unlimited Ride MetroCard. We are also urging MTA to stop the toll hike for residents of Staten Island and Far Rockaway communties in Queens, where it got major damaged from storm. Yours sincerely truly,6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Yuki Endo

Ask Ellen To Address Equal Rights For Women On Her ShowEquality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. ~ The Equal Rights Amendment Ellen, as one of the most beloved celebrities in America, you are in a unique position to help revive a national conversation about the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). A new movement to ratify the ERA is underway and is supported by a variety of grassroots equality groups and individual activists. The sad fact is that most Americans don’t realize the ERA was never ratified into the Constitution and even sadder, a deadline was imposed and expired in 1982. A deadline for women’s equality!!! The deadline resulted in a lack of understanding of what equal rights for women means, and the push for it was drastically slowed. Unfortunately, there is a lot of confusion regarding how the ERA will benefit all Americans. The National Organization for Women has recently announced that they will only endorse and contribute to politicians who sign onto all paths to the ERA and to the International Women’s Treaty (CEDAW). This means politicians must support both the three-state and the start-over strategies if they want NOW’s endorsement. This IS BIG NEWS. A coalition of women’s rights groups request that you talk about what is currently happening with the ERA by dedicating a portion of your show with a guest or panel of guests who will be able to help educate the public and dispel some of the myths and inaccurate information regarding equality – the activists who are aware of the current movement and the information on how it’s getting done. There are even some politicians who are not up-to-date on what is happening. There is NO valid argument against constitutional equality for women. One of the most important benefits of ratifying the ERA is that it will make pay equality FEDERAL LAW. The Equal Rights Amendment would provide blanket protection to women for all time. State laws can be overturned and repealed, thus reversing positive strides and eroding the rights and freedoms women already have. As it stands, women do not have constitutional protection when it pertains to sexual and gender discrimination, fair and equal pay and the guarantee of a fair and balanced trial when a woman is raped—including women in the military. The arguments against the ERA have been weak and demonstrate a resistance towards progress as well as the intent to legislate inequality. America is one of the few industrialized nations that has not yet recognized its women as equals. It is now time to do the right thing and move our country forward. It is extremely important to make sure Americans understand that the ERA is non-partisan. It isn’t only a liberal or Democrat issue and it has nothing to do with reproductive rights. In fact, Republicans were the party who originally introduced the ERA! Please consider dedicating a portion of your show to the ERA and I will be more than happy to suggest some great guests. Alice Paul fought hard to win women the right to vote. Paul penned the Equal Rights Amendment in 1923. Let us honor her passion and resolve. America needs you. Will you help? Demand Veolia to Restore N2/N8, N21, N23/N27, N78/N79N21 which used to run between Flushing and Glen Clove via Shore Rd-Glenwood Rd, but right now is peak service only. This has many passengers affected and extreme delay in N20 and N20 Limited service. Timed transfer to N27 Glen Clove at Glen Clove Rd does not work out very well due to heavey boarding in Queens and drop off in Great Neck. Some of N21 riders are forced to J-cross dangerous street of Northern Blvd/Glen Clove Rd in order to make to this N27 bus. N23 and N27 bus need to restore to pre April 8th service. With changes off, N27 terminated at Roslyn Station, ridership is decreasing. Restore N27 bus back to Roosevelt Field Mall and Hempstead, while I suggest N23 to extend from Mineola Station to Roosevelt Field Mall via Old Country Rd instead. This way Manorhavern folks have direct access to shopping mall. I also suggest to restore N78/N79 bus back to Roosevelt Field Mall. N78/N79 which used to operate between Walt Whitman Mall/NC Plainview Complex and Mineola, but now only to/from Hicksville, forcing rider to cost extra minute on N24 bus. Also, N2/N8 loops are good idea, but Franklin Av passengers have lost direct bus service. I suggest after N2/N8 returns to Dutch Broadway, I suggest N2/N8 travel north on Franklin Av to Tulip Av, then return to Convernt Av, so Franklin Av riders will not be affected.27 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Yuki Endo

Eliminate Government Job Credit Score RequirementAgencies such as the Department of Immigration (INS) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) have refused jobs to US Citizens that otherwise qualified for positions after successful application, interview and background check clearances other than the credit score requirement. People can pay their bills if they have employment to provide the means to pay! Why would the government that is supposed to be helping Americans get to work make such a requirement!? This makes No Sense! Please sign this petition to get this eliminated and help to get Americans to work!6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gwendolyn Moore
